I wonder if Toby was aware that she was going to drop the big belt for the beautiful head voice run. He doesn't change his expression when she does it, so he probably knew it was coming. All the various versions is why she never gets boring, you never know what to expect.

It’s like she would get bored if she did a song the same way every time. There always seems to be a little variation in each performance of any song she does. A lot of today’s artists use a backing track so they lip sync part or sometimes all of the song. That really doesn’t allow for variations. It does help preserve their voice though. That’s how Taylor Swift can do what seems to be a non stop tour. Hopefully Angelina continues to not use a backing track but also takes precautions if she is ever at the point that she can do a long tour.

Great reaction Chris. Angelina is a true artist, each time she is "in the moment" so many subtle factors build a unique rendition. With her vocal abilities the possibilities are endless. Collaboration with Toby Gad is clearly good for both of them, maybe soon we will see them together is a bigger vehicle, a tour bus!

Through my life, I have heard many people say, "the band I just saw in concert was awesome, they sounded just like their record". Different strokes for different folks. Nice reaction Chris! We get another variation of this great song from Angelina. Even with the slight mess up with the lyrics in the song, her vocals shine on this performance. Whether this appearance will help them out not, time will tell. Seven years ago, a young singer named Dua Lipa appeared on the Wish 107.5 bus in the Philippines to perform and she seems to be doing fine today! Wish USA told me that her If I Were A Boy performance will be coming out soon, so we have another performance to look forward to!

The WISH performance shows me that AJ has now arrived, totally unscripted, as a major artist. Her riffs have always been controlled and (at least internally) rehearsed, but here she just lets it all go. Her duet with Scott in Glendale had a similar ad hoc feel -- and she actually rescued him when he garbled the initial bridge. Her relationship with Toby is really, really paying off.
