The notes she gave to the director were about her 'wishes' for the musical arrangement. The band caller her 'the Boss'. The original of this song, recorded in 1956 by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, is a wild, voodoo inspired rant. She manages to pull the music out of it and offer it to us in 'respectable' form. This is a work of genius, actually, and is a real tribute to the original (Screamin' Jay is the guy on the candle she's holding at the beginning.) I would highly recommend seeing the original to really understand what she's doing here.😎

Daniel, I understand how hard it is to describe what you just hear Angelina Jordan sing "I Put a Spell on You", with an adult voice at 9 yrs old? I believe she can channel a voice that matches the music, after all we already established Angelina is a Barefoot Angel!

It’s a 1950s vibe with A prayer candle with a picture of the original artist Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and the sheet music is really something that she wrote how she wanted all the musicians to play it. The person who looks at it is the conductor and he’s agreeing with her decisions about where she made some changes musically.

Welcome to the wild , wonderful world of Angelina Jordan. Her fans ( called Angels ) have many names for her _ The Barefoot Princess , The Queen of Jazz and the Angel of 1,000 voices ( because she can change her voice to suit whatever song she chooses to sing ). This is HER ARRANGEMENT of the 1956 original by Screaming Jay Hawkins whose face was on the candle at the beginning of the video. The notes you saw the music director looking over were Angelina's wishes on how she wanted the band to play her arrangement! The band affectionately nicknamed her " The Boss ". Remember all this was done by a mere 9 year old! The Barefoot Princess is truly one of a kind. There is no one else like her or anyone else that can compare!

I don't know how you want to go at this point, but if you're willing to keep going back in time, you could do worse than checking out her entire run on _Norway's Got Talent_ [Norske Talenter], where she was first introduced to the world. (Literally… her audition went viral online and led to coverage of her by media outlets around the world, including _Time_ , CNN, _People_ , _The Mirror_ , and _The Hollywood Reporter_ all within a week of its airing.) She entered the competition at 7 and turned 8 before she sang in the second round. (The first two rounds were prerecorded, and then the show went live starting in the semifinals.) "On paper", her song choices seem almost ludicrous (if you didn't know anything about her except her age): two Billie Holiday songs from the 1940s and '50s (with the latter to be sung a capella), a Nancy Sinatra song from the '60s, and an Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong song from the '50s. (I'm giving info here about the versions of the songs that she was basing her renditions on, not the original versions.) And she wasn't going to "belt" a single note throughout the whole competition. Is this a winning strategy for a 7-/8-year-old on a TV talent show? Well, it turned out to be for her. (spoiler alert ;) She won the competition _handily_, ultimately garnering a whopping 46% of the nationwide audience vote in the field of 10 final acts. Now, the exact videos you'll want to use depends on whether you want to react to only the songs or if you also want to experience all the pre- and post-song stuff, too - like little mini-interviews with her before (and sometimes after) she sings and the judges' comments afterwards. I _highly_ recommend watching all the "extras" at least for her audition. I have a playlist on my channel (with a pretty obvious title) where I list the best videos to use for the individual rounds if you want all the extras (or even if you don't, since you can always just edit out whatever you don't want to show in your reaction video), as well as a couple of "quick and easy" single-video compilation options, if you don't care about seeing _any_ of the extras. (Be sure to read the playlist description, otherwise you're likely to be very confused.) Looking forward to your next AJ reaction…

You can see why this one is so highly recommended. She's a little younger here than the Feeling Good video you did last time, but her gift was clear when she was even younger than this. To go back to near the beginning, you should check out her Gloomy Sunday on NGT at just 7 years old.

In this performance, in addition to her incredible vocals, what amazes me is that she has perfect timing. You can see in her head movements and her finger gestures that she can keep a beat, which is amazing for anyone that young. I was lucky I could pour a glass of milk without spilling at that age! Anyway, keep up the nice reactions and commentary Daniel.

The Greatest Performance Ever by The Greatest of all Time. 9 years old and does her own arrangements. Unheard of. This is great at any age. She did Adele's cover of Easy on Me immediately. I don't think she has to hear a song too many times. Her guitarist Nigel said they would decide on a song and it was 1 maybe 2 takes.

Thank you for making my day by reacting to this masterpiece performance by Angelina, the Barefoot Angel, I have lost the count of number of times watching reaction to this unbelievable performance by a 9 years old child honoring Scremin Jay Hawkins (RIP) with her own rendition of this iconic song. Who is she? She is: a music prodigy, a humanitarian, a messenger of love and peace, a child who acquired social awareness at 6 years old to become an advocate of poor children all over the world.

Daniel, hi, it is said, and there is at least some prove to it, That AJ has a slightly bigger larynx than most people. So she can sing very deep. Children with bigger larynx are born more often, than we think, BUT, to work hard and driven as AJ is (She is music) to use this advantage in her craft and art, is once in a generation. AJ said in an interview, "Music is like air to me, I cant live without it." We have the chance of seeing one of the greatest Jazz Queens of her time develop. In the secon half of 2022 AJ starts her career in earnest, then she has finished Highschool. Sure there are other phantastic vocalists, but are they also great human beings? I know about one young singer who is colaborating with a eastern government.

@@tomwhite4736 friend, that is for sure. About her larynx, some voice teacher pointed it first out, and Ole from Norway found scientific papers that describe that phenomenon, BUT, as I said, that is nothing, if there is not some very hard and very long training/exercises are included to use a godgiven advantage to heal the world. And yes I am a German and not proud of my government. He should be called Mr. Undecided for all that happen in Germany and Europe. Bless you Tom.

There is not now, nor has there ever been, anyone who can match the extensive accomplishments she's done for this song. Whether it involves singing, personally arranging and coordinating everything to her specifications, not even an adult singer could have accomplished what this young nine year old girl does here. She makes Screamin' Jay Hawkins sound calm compared to her and when the orchestra refer's to her as 'The Boss', that should tell you all you need to know. With regard to the original recording, you can see her at the start, holding a cup with Jay's photo on it.

Angelina is "one of a kind, for sure". There is no one to compare her to. The "X" factor is how she makes us feel. Angelina inspires us in so many ways since her music makes us emotionally healthy and balanced. Daniel, you are at the beginning of your journey both into Angelina's music as well as for your channel. I, along with other angels, have been inspired to make the music reaction world on KZbin a better place, by suggesting to reaction channels to do what they can to further the artists' career and boost their KZbin analytics. The simple approach is to provide links to the original song and to the artists' channel and I thank you for doing so. Since so few viewers read the description, we suggest verbally encouraging viewers to use those links. These simple steps (of course you can do more such as links to social media, websites and patreon) should be done for each aspiring artist you feature. Thank you and I will subscribe once you verbally support.

To truly appreciate how much her talent has grown I recommend you review her Bohemian Rhapsody performance at age 13 on AGT next. THEN YOU MUST!!!! DO Angelina's 1st original release "Million Miles" from Republic Records where she got signed at age 15. Not only did she wright this song at 14 years old, but it was in memory of her Grandfather who had just died. it will just melt your heart. Also her last release is called 7th Heaven, which she also wrote, and it's very jazzy which shows she's sticking to her roots and developing her own style. I believe we must support this talented girls present and budding career and promote not only what she's done but to promote and introduce her original work as well. She is the definition of an ARTIST!

I am an instant subscriber because I know you are in for the long haul, Yes, Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old in this performance. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, and she based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. To my knowledge, there is no other cover of this song where the singer has based their performance on the original. There are a number of things in the video which are worth noting. How many of them did you see? (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) The occasions where Angelina gave silent instructions to the band (f) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (g) The instant transformation from the "beast" mode while performing the song to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I remark on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. You have seen in comments that Angelina has many nicknames - "The Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The chameleon of Song" for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the colour of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners

Takes a while to process this performance. Not many words needed, LOL. The last few notes were held like 16 or 17 seconds with a slow decrescendo. She listened to jazz from age 3 and searched it out on YT. Who knows how many times she watched Jay Hawkins but she listened to all of the great jazz artists as a very young child. You could go back to her first performance on Norway's Got Talent at 7 years old singing the great Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday" but PLEASE, PLEASE listen to the original recording before watching Angelina's performance. It will give you a much better understanding of how incredible her performance was. ANGELINA JORDAN 16 years old - Born and raised in Oslo, Norway; this world-renowned singer has earned fantastic reviews for the amazing breadth, depth and maturity of her vocal talent that simply belies her young age. Angelina’s videos have received over 1 billion views on KZbin and almost 2,5 billion views on Facebook. Amazingly, her passion for music began at just one-and- a-half years of age when Angelina first saw Whitney Houston on KZbin performing I Will Always Love You. Whitney - and later Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington - became her first major musical influences. At the age of seven, Angelina auditioned for Norway’s Got Talent performing Billie Holiday’s Gloomy Sunday. She won the competition with the show drawing record TV audiences. Not surprisingly, throughout her rising career, Angelina has featured in prominent media outlets including TIME, CNN, BBC, and People while also performing on the U.S. network TV shows Little Big Shots and The View. As well as singing before Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, charitable causes to which Angelina has given her talent include the Rainforest Alliance at the American Museum of Natural History in New York and Ein Herz für Kinder in Berlin where she helped raise over 21 Million Euros for children and families in need. This multi-talented singing prodigy has also written a successful, illustrated children’s book in her native Norway making Angelina the youngest published author in the country’s history. Based on the true story of when she was six years old, Angelina met a homeless, shoeless girl. After they talked for a long time, she gave the girl her shoes and vowed never to appear on stage again wearing shoes until all the world’s children had them. Since that time, Angelina has always performed barefoot in public.

Good reaction! Nice set up too, really good lighting. Been listening to her for a few years now and she's completely timeless. Every song she sings is so good and still full of wonder about it. Seeing a prodigy unfold is unprecedented at this level. To be in the developing stage still but with a huge jumpstart if talent to experiment with is nearly miraculous. You are compelled to listen front and center and not just background pop. Make yourself a long ballad playlist and go out and about. Then you'll see the movie that you are living is pretty nice. What a soundtrack!! 😄

I think for new reactors Angelina must seem to be imitating the people she covers but l can assure you that this is not the case. She almost always adds her own signature elements to things she sings. That was the case for both performances you covered. You can see it pretty clearly in another Hawkins cover, Portrait of a Child where she works with some of these same musicians. It is called a jam session but really a practice session. Check it out.

Love the reaction to our Barefoot Princess! ♥👣👸🏻 You just watched a Masterpiece! Destined to go down in Music History as the best performance by a 9 yr old, Period! Past, present & dare I say Future! I'd like to see anyone, young or old who can do a cover of this & with the justice it deserves as Angelina has done on every cover she does. ♥👣👸🏻 Angelina grew up singing Jazz and this is obviously her favorite genre, the biggest influence, the origination of her versatility, deep soulful expression and deep emotional connection to her audience. She can sing any song and any genre. ♥👣 She is absolutely fearless in choice of covers. No artist is too big and no song too daunting. Most Artists shy away from singing Acappella as it will quickly show any flaws. Angelina will sing absolutely any thing Accappella and often does on tik-toc just walking around the neighborhood as this video shows. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGaweJh5is-Ai5Y Just imagine running into Angelina on the street, some park or underground parking lot. God, what I wouldn't give to see that! You have far to go and much to learn. Treasure your Journey. We will enjoy watching it. ♥👣👸🏻 Angelina arranges, at least in part, if not in total, total control of all her performances. She has since she was 7-8 yrs old. She knows what she wants and gets exactly what she wants out of the artists and musicians she works with, many of them who are some of the most accomplished in the industry. ♥👣👸🏻 Her first song was Whitney Houston 'I Will Always Love You'? at 18 months. Angelina is the Grand Master of Jazz! She could teach a Master Class at 8 years old. 'Easy On Me' Adele. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6HaZoRta82Kjac recently. MUST SEE! SummerTime' George Gershwin kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJ_Td6Z5g7CtfMk 8 yrs old Winning performance on Norways Got Talent. MUST SEE! Michael Jacksons 'Billie Jean' kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqGZaJ5vrNBlg9k Today 16 yrs old. MUST SEE! 'What a Difference a Day Makes' kzbin.info/www/bejne/kITJmHZ_fMlqoZY. 8 yrs old after having won Norways Got Talent. My Fav of all performances when she was young. MUST SEE! 'Fly Me to the Moon' on the View kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHOqfoRvgN1sn6s. 8 yrs old My Fav of her half dozen performances MUST SEE! ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3eTe4lobduagtk. 13 yrs old Queen responded "Wow, What a rendition" and gave her the rights to the song! MUST SEE! 'I Put a Spell on You' Screamin Jay Hawkins 1956 Angelina 9 yrs old goes Beast Mode! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKipnaJ5hb2tedU Amy Winehouse 'Back to Black' Improvised lyrics. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpO7hn6whN10ebc She finished rewriting the song on the way to the recording for kids MUST SEE! 'Valerie'. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaLQe3-hnNBlf80 on Venice beach with little sister backup dancer! MUST SEE! Miley Cyrus 'Nothing Breaks Like a Heart'. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHuclqhtpqecrbM Like I said she can sing anything like this little Country Ballad! '7th Heaven' kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH6bda2Dh8ecf8U. 2nd release from Republic Records original studio version 16 yrs old last year. Any one of them will blow you away! Guaranteed! ♥👣

Angelina Jordan is so AMAZING on So many different levels like you said for her age but her vibrato & Control also keeping in mind English is not her First language and her phrasing was on point. Thanks for your input & Time. AJ has over 150 covers from over 70 different Artist plus her own originals as well. Yes She is INCREDIBLE like you said Daniel. Totally agree. Check out out her very 1st composition with her just chillin with mates...IT;S INSPIRATIONAL! Link below #AngelinaJordanWhatIsLifecomposition (4:02) She's A Legend

The original of this was by screaming Jay Hawkins. It was also done by Annie Lennox, and creedence Clearwater revival as well as others. Angelina made her own arrangement which you saw the paperwork from at the very beginning of the video. Thanks for reacting to Angelina. Your comments were appreciated, and you have contributed to helping spread awareness of this magical singer. Only reactors like you can help young artists like Angelina achieve their dreams. Now you've seen the little Angelina at 10 & 9 so I think you should check out the big Angelina (6'1" tall, supermodel) at 16. It's hard to believe, but her voice has matured like a fine wine , so check out her latest release of the iconic jazz standard, My Funny Valentine. She will melt you into a speechless reactor. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4WqfZWpfKl0f5I

When she was writing she was giving information to the conductor how she wanted the song to go she probably did you arrange for herself

She has made her own arrangements ans well as many time her own lyrics because if mom is strict about her not singing lyrics that are not age appropriate ( in this case 9yrs old) and always hand wrote her notes of where she wanted to do a scream or an shout out ,, she changed all of the lyrics to the Amy Winehouse cover to "Back to Black , she was 10years old at the time and wrote them the night before, and was still doing changes in the car on the way to the recording studio, all the changes had to be done with out changing a note of music because the band had already learn the music that was sent to them

I believe that AJ has access to the higher consciousness that humanity lost during the so-called 'fall'. It is a higher dimensional being that is mature from birth. It is still asleep in the rest of us. She reverts to her 'normal' state when she stops. Then she is a child again.

You asked a question about the original singer. His face is seen in the candle she held up at the beginning of the video. His name is Screaming Jay Hawkins. I challenge you to watch the original and I'll wager your answer will be more apparent. She knew his style thoroughly and used from it only as much as she wanted to use to honor him. The rest was her. 9 Year Old Lion Roars! announcing her presence to the world in a proper video done in B&W. That's what journalists should have been writing about in headlines when this happened. It was recorded only 7 years ago. ✌💖🎼

As you can see Daniel , there are people for one reason or the other , who are motivated to comment on reactions to ANGELINA JORDAN , even though they can in no way be described as fans of ANGELINA. some are respectful others unfortunately not so. Best to ignore them as they crave attention.

Dan, try listening to her cover of Lana del Ray's song, "Young and Beautiful" from the Movie, 'The Great Gatsby." In this man's opinion, it just may be the best pure tone of her many covers, that oddly has very little or no jazz influence that I hear...which is extremely rare, as you will find out soon, I'm sure. You won't be disappointed.

Well done Daniel , your a young guy on your reaction and ANGELINA journey ,so enjoy. yea she must have watched the original version many times, certainly took inspiration from it but certainly made it her own. ANGELINA never used that growl effect again after being advised it may harm her vocal cords. Edit, don't be concerned about pauses and talking, as long as you have the right balance, it's a reaction channel , it's necessary. One piece of advice ,when you react to BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY don't cut the video short ,watch from very beginning from ANGELINAS little chat and introduction to the judges to the very end of all their comments ,don't cut off at Simon Cowell , the atmosphere in the room is electric. here is the link . kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJ-Zn56OZc1pjtk
