Yes, this has become a classic on its own. Here, Angelina, at 9 yrs 2 mos old, has captured the essence of the original song by Screamin' Jay Hawkins in 1956 in her arrangement (Not Nina Simone's cover). In the intro you can see her writing out and passing last-minute changes to the arrangement to the band leader. They may have gone in that day and been taken aback by playing for a nine-year-old, but by the end of the day they were calling her, "The Boss." After auditioning for Norway's Got Talent at seven and winning it at eight, she was literally a professional by age 9! Now, at seventeen, she has written 11 songs, sung two written for her, and covered about 200 other songs of 75 different artists. She signed with Republic Records when she was 14. Her arrangement and performance of this song is considered the best jazz performance of any 9- year-old ever. This month she released a 6-song EP of original and exceptional songs. Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. The amazing thing about this performance is that it is Angelina's arrangement of the original song by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, hence the handwritten notes which she passed to the bandleader prior to the performance. Thereafter, these professional musicians referred to Angelina as "the Boss". Angelina is a phenomenom, the like of which I don't expect to see again in my lifetime. Yes, 9 years old here. She entered "Norway's Got Talent" at 7 years old, and won it all just after turning 8. She is now 17, and signed with Republic Records at age 14 under "her terms". Her Uncle is her manager, and her Mom is with her every step of the way. Her Grandma Mery is her inspiration, and was a child prodigy herself in Iran as a poet and artist. That was her Grandma handing her the candle in the beginning with the picture of Screamin Jay Hawkins, the original singer of this song. If you want to check her progress from younger to her present age, here is a list of what I feel are not to be missed videos. Finding it difficult to speak during or right after she sings 'for you' is something that happens to everyone who listens to her sing. You're in shock right now, of course, but that shock will turn to amazement as you listen to her more and more. She is currently 17 so, in your wildest imagination can you believe what you have missed? Why haven't you heard of her???? She's been well protected by her family. They decided very early on it was best for her to concentrate on getting her education and to live the life as a normal young person. As you read the comments you will begin to understand that besides being vocally and artistically 'out of this world' she is a very humble, kind, caring and loving human being and, well, let me stop right there. Thank you for discovering Angelina Jordan. I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on KZbin, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below, (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted. (g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song. (h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time. (i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word (j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. (k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying. (l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella! Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

Thank you for a great reaction to Angelina Jordan. I love to watch, when this song is the first experience of Angelina, for a reactor. I agree. This is shockingly amazing, and you can see the fierce determination with which Angelina tackles everything in her path. She was just putting absolutely everything into this, and I love it. Angelina is now 17 and has just dropped her first EP under her Republic Records label, entitled, "Old Enough". The evolution of this young woman is just astounding.

😂 oh boy, she's a real head scratcher aint she? Your face was priceless, your mind trying sooo hard to compute the greatness that is Angelina. Dont worry those side effects will reside some over time ofcourse but the warm feeling you get inside as she sings grows more and more. There hasnt been a day in 4 yrs that her voice hasnt resonanted in my ears, heart and soul! She's 9 here. Its her arrangement of this as she often arranges her hundreds of songs, both originals and covers. She is also Norways youngest published author, the same year of this video. Her writing skills show her mental maturity beyond her years! Welcome and enjoy, this is the dawning of the Age of Angelina!

Not 6 here. She was "Deep Space Nine"! Lol! But there are some amazing videos of her singing (and one hilarious one of her refusing to sing with her classmates!) when she was SIX! The ones of her at age 6 are where she is singing in her school's music sound room studio. The songs were "I Who Have Nothing" (Ben E. King), "Rolling in the Deep" (Adele), and "Hurt" (Johnny Cash, I think). Truly incredible!

Nice reaction CraVe! I always love when a reactor sees this performance for the first time. They’re almost always blown away. No doubt, this young artist is a prodigy (she was actually 9 years old in this performance). That said, AMAZING! She is now 17 and is as amazing as ever. She just released her first EP with her label (Republic Records) and its off the charts fantastic. You could view some of her earlier work and move along chronologically. Or you could jump to current times and see where she’s come. Either way, it’s gonna be quite a journey. I’ve subscribed to experience your ride. Thanks.

I would highly recommend the video of all 4 performances from her win at Norways Got Talent 2014 which started just before her 8th Birthday, as you can tell from front upper left tooth, which starts to appear in the first auditioning by the Final performance us all but completely through. There is z version with English sub titles, and the judges comments are worth reading in English!
