This was a fantastic reaction to a fantastic song! Angelina wrote this song and "Oslo" (about her hometown) at age 11. She wrote "Shield" at age 12, then "Million Miles" at 14, and "7th Heaven" at 15. She has more on the way with her album pending release in the near future through Republic Records! Can't wait to hear them! Angelina Jordan -- vocalist par excellence; songwriter; artist; fashion designer; writer & published author; "the Boss"; with a little bit of "philosopher" thrown into the mix ("we come, we see, we go" -- what 11 year old kid even thinks like that, then pens it down in beautiful lyrics?!). And we mere mortals can only sit back, watch and listen in awe!

I like this very much. I'm not sure, but thinking it is from the same era as losing her friend, Avicci, when he died in Oman. I think she was exploring her own feelings of what makes life worth living. And it is so affirmative. I absolutely love it. 💜

What a great reaction Bob. We all know that Angelina is a generational vocalists the likes of which we have not seen in decades. She is also a brilliant young lady as well and a music genius as evident in her vocal skills, but also in her writing and composing skills. Her originals, "Shield", "7th Heaven", "Million Miles" and "Oslo" are all beautifully written and beautifully sung by Angelina, all before she turned 16. Enjoyed this Bob, stay well.

Bob, the music is great and her lyrics come straight from her heart. It's a great listen. Emotionally, this is a moment when we become so PROUD of her and like a big brother or a father figure we will always be there for her if she ever needs us. She is touching so many people around the world and SHE HAS ONLY BEGUN! Through her connection we can clearly see all people, regardless of gender, age, color, religion, occupation or musical preference sharing their love with her and that, in itself, is a beautiful thought.

Angelina never brags about how hard she works on her music,or anything for that matter, humility is a special gift that often is overlooked. The point being she has reportedly been to songwriting workshops back in her Norway days.We know from her book that she is a gifted writer, and beloved grandma Mery is a gifted poet,so songwriting should come naturally to this endlessly talented young prodigy.Loved your reaction and the obvious respect you show to Angelina the artist.

I like your calm style. For the originals you missed, there are "Oslo" and "Shield", both published when she was (12). A year later she was featured on the TDRX song "Above the Water", which is EDM, and on an otherwise instrumental album by Nico Cartosio with "Song for A", which he specifically wrote for her.

In this song Angelina calls her sister the "love of her life", and you can see that in pretty much every video of them together. Here's a fun one of those (very short) where she's making Juliette laugh by (playing piano and) singing a children's/holiday/drinking (!) song in a silly way: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmfTkouBgMp0o5Y It's hard to tell how old either of them is, but I'm guessing it was just before Angelina turned 11, which would make Juliette 4. (The song is called "Hej tomtegubbar", which translates, more or less, to "Hey, gnome-men" - or, playing up the holiday aspect, "Hey, Santa-men", or even just "Hey, Santa Claus". It's a Swedish song, but what she's singing doesn't seem to match the Swedish lyrics I find online, so I guess she's singing different version of it. I don't know if she's singing in Swedish or Norwegian.)

Hi Bob, great reaction! When I listen to the lines she wrote for this song in particular, do you know who she reminds me of? Scout, from To Kiil a Mockingbird". The unique perspective of an 8-year old - 10-year old in Angelina's case - in the words of a girl that age is extraordinary is its clarity and power of evocation. You can actually see through the eyes of a child - that's what Angelina can do to you. I loved Harper Lee's book because every time I read it - and I have several times over the years - I continue to be amazed, and find something I kissed the previous times I read the book. Angelina is the only othewr one who does that, only her language is music.

"Every single song I hear from Angelina has that something that just blows me away." I hear you loud and clear, Bob. Same here. She's a rarity; you go into the song knowing she's going to be fantastic, and still end up getting blown away. And, true, she absolutely nails that old school vibe, which I love, on her first original song. As for singers covering Angelina, I know there are some amateurs on KZbin who have covered her already. Perhaps that will happen with some pros after she drops her first Republic album. It'd be fun to see, but she's so unique, covering her might be a little risky for established acts. Since you asked for recommendations, try "Shield," another one of Angelina's original tunes, performed live at age 12. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLXhpWMgMdjrNU. Cheers.

You may already know Angelina wrote the music and the words for the song. How any one person can compose and write a song is way beyond me. Her rehearsal of this ( with the entire military band is awesome) somehow she knows exactly how she wants it sung and while still respectful corrects the band/orchestra. Angelina is still a teenager!!!!!

Thank you for this. Yes, this song is very Cole Porter. In fact, I hear echoes of Every Time We Say Goodbye (which you should definitely check out) in this. She performed that just before leaving Oslo for LA, and perhaps it was in her mind when she wrote it. There's a sort of husky thing going on with her voice here which is so enchanting. And her vibrato is so-o soothing! If you want to hear another amazing song which she wrote, check out Oslo, either from the It's Magic album or from the concert she gave with the Stabsmusikkorps (?) military band when she was 12.

Andy, I agree that Angelina sings this with great emotion, and as always well beyond her years. She sees things from the point of a 12-year-old but yet very mature and adult like as well. It's hard to fathom! Regarding recommending the links to the viewers, I have commented previously to Bob how important that is. A deserving channel and a deserving artist deserve equal recognition. Bob spends a brief time requesting subscription to his channel and support for his channel as he should. But requesting the same for his featured artists is the right thing to do as it provides equal priority for both. It would be very simple for him to suggest that the viewers watch, like, comment and subscribe to the featured Artist as well as his own channel, using his supplied links. This applies to all young artists like Angelina. I know that there are many angels that would subscribe to his channel with more committed support.

Bob, sir, her body may be 12 here, but her mind is at least 20 to 30 years older. Everybody says, she´s a genius. But I and other people, who worked with highly intelligent kids recognize her as a VERY highly intelligent person far beyond her age. Her phrasing in her songs and her book shows that clearly. Also she is intelligent and wise enough to seek advise if she have to. Friend Bob, as always stay safe and healthy, Elmar from Germany.
