I'll share this video when my comments don't get erased. Don't know who is doing that, it's rather strange.

I also grew up right across the Hudson from New York City. The "words of the prophets" really were "written on the subway walls." That is SO NYC! But it's also a reference to the Biblical "Writing on the wall." This song came from a flat out Gospel/Folk album, and is full of Biblical imagery. Very beautiful.

As a child of the 60s, I can tell you without a doubt that this song epitomized the decade of the "counter-cultural revolution" that forever changed America. The only technology of the day was black and white TV, complete with the rabbit ear antennae that we wrapped tin foil on the ends of to improve reception. I still smile remembering that. This was the decade that shattered the very foundation of 200 years of shared American culture. The previous generation of Jimmy Stewart's "Its a Wonderful Life" and TV's "Father Knows Best" obliterated by the Hippie generation of "Sex, drugs and Rock & Roll!" Psychedelic drugs and "free love." Haight Ashbury, Woodstock and all that. The Bible was removed from our schools. The day no longer started with prayer for every American school child across the country. The Bible was removed from society and Hollywood as well. Our Christian/Conservative culture fractured as never before. Society was full of rebellion, turmoil and more violence. Disillusionment with the government. Anti-Vietnam war sentiment growing, "peace" demonstrations became ironically violent. A nation shell shocked by the assassination of John Kennedy in 1963 (mere months before the 1st release of this song), then his brother. Even more poignant, was the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King in 1968. Dr. King was the lone voice of pure truth, unity, universal brotherly love and peace, and the one throw back to our former foundation. Whether you were black or white, young or old, Dr. King was univesrally loved and respected. Sadly, with his death, his "Dream" died with him. This song is more Biblical than people realize. Bleeker Street and Sound of Silence start out with the exact same message. And lament a society that has lost it's way, and society's inability to communicate anymore. *Art Garfunkel once said that this song was about just that, the inability to communicate, "but not on purpose." He said that "People are no longer able to connect on a deep, emotional level anymore. And when people can't connect emotionally, they LOSE THE ABILITY TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER."* So true! At the end of "Bleeker Street" however, there is still hope. At the end of Sound of Silence, there is no hope. It's JUDGEMENT DAY. The writing is on the wall. It's truly one of the darkest, saddest songs ever written. And it's timeless. Although it is so fitting

She says she doesn't study the artists she covers too much. - "Maybe" She absolutely has one of the best voices I've heard in decades and is using her God-given talent to bless us all. Her voice takes my breath away. Auto-tune or pitch correction would ruin this young lady's amazing voice and make it fake-sounding. She may have as close to perfect pitch as I've ever heard.

She doesn’t sound like Olivia but she sings this beautifully. She really reaches the sound of who she’s singing to. I miss singers like this. I wish we had more songs like this today.

Tori is literally like listening to Karen Carpenter. If you close your eyes, it sounds like you’re listening to Karen. She was the best of the three however Chloe came a close second, but when she hit the higher note, she did not sound like karen but the lower notes she did.

If you had watched the. Video all the way to the ending. You would get the whole meaning. You stoped before you saw the boat actually gliding to the people on the shore. Too bad for us viewing your channel, as for some it may be the first time they have ever seen this video and therefore missed the final impact.

It's as good & as biblical as the Lord's Prayer, I am glad Garfunkel wrote it, but it took Disturbed to make it Holy, it should be sung in churches, it will bring you closer to God.

People in the boat... watch throught- the musicians and instruments are on one side of the water-way, and song writters are on the other (music is then "silent". In the end, the musicians and instruments are in a boat to head over to the song writters. Together, they bring back Sound- no more Silence. David ROARS - like a LION!!!❤❤ LORI - IOWA

The first bars of backing vocals make people lean forward as if being drawn into a time portal to 1972. Its definitely trippy the first time. What a warm voice.

You said you are not a singer ........... I was and I WILL TELL YOU BOTH DO A GREAT JOB ON A REAL TEST FLIGHT MEDLEY .... and her ease of tonal accuracy and natural vibrato is so clean and strong ..... we are in for a treat going forward. Big Fan. As a note = Tori has the low power and pitch perfect skill and range THAT EVEN KAREN did not have in this degree ! Anyone that refuses Tori's same sound as Karen is purely a refusal to allow anyone could be that good ..... simply is the case. GBjj
