Chris Tucker improvised much of his dialogue, as he normally does in his movies. According to director Brett Ratner, during the scene at Grauman's where Detective Carter bribes Stucky for information, there was so much improvisation between Tucker and John Hawkes that they almost did not think they could edit it together as a coherent conversation. There are still continuity errors in the dialogue for this reason.

@@luxurybuzz3681 I think most people in the west never heard about the excellent 2004 New Police Story. The movie needs more exposure since it's one of his best for that decade. Who Am I is an entertaining one with the stunts and fights but there are many cheese moments in the movie especially some of the performance of the Caucasian actors since this is a Hong Kong movie.

"Why they don't want Lee mixed in the case? Why they don't make a contract to be covered in case he gets hurt?" It's a bit more complex than that (partially, as you mentioned, to have the story moving a bit faster than that): in general, Lee is not a cop in the United States (his jurisdiction would be limited to Chinese territory. True, there are some international treaties and agreements that allow cops from foreing countries to have some jurisdiction and oficially act in other territories, but several elements have to be cleared for that, and that takes time. In a general sense, even with the personal support of the consul, for the United States and the Chinese government, Lee is a regular citizen in a foreign country, with the intention of doing stuff he is not allowed to do (and that's how international incidents are created). In the end, Lee, and not even the consul, can make a contract (or any agreement) by themselves with the FBI or the US government, it would need to be between the US and the Chinese governments. On top of that, the film plays on one of the most criticized elements of the FBI: that they basically can "kidnap" high profile investigations to have all the glory of the results, while screwing over local authorities who, maybe, did a lot of the hard work before the FBI stepped in. While the FBI has tried to clear its image and have better relationships with local authorities in recent years, the Bureau still has the authority to shun local authorities if they consider it necessary (and insisting on crossing swords with the FBI, once they have taken over a case, can very well end with federal charges). Even when the film never explicitly mentions it... besides the taken child Lee, Carter and the consul can face serious consequences if things go very wrong (and even if they work out, the act of creating a personal rift with local authorities would be enough to be punished, in the case of the consul; true, that's thinking the plot a bit too deep, but personally it makes me appreciate Lee and the consul on a different level for the personal risks they are willing to take for each other and the people they care for). "Special Agent Angelina" Keep in mind that, while this is a kidnapping case, the FBI also takes cases involving terrorism, cyber crime, counterintelligence, corruption, civil rights, international crime, significant violent crime or (if you believe the lore) paranormal activity (either to understand it or cover it up... you could end up interrogating alien life forms). Speaking of FBI related films... have you seen The Silence of the Lambs or Red Dragon? And that would be it; nice reaction and see you in the next one. Oh! And happy new year.

There were talks of a fourth film in the series, but it was cancelled as director Brett Ratner who helmed the trilogy, was accused of sexual harrasment by several executives during the making of Wonder Woman. What's up with most of the reaction channels covering the most tamest of Jackie Chan flicks especially his Hollywood ones. It's like noone in the west knows Jackie Chan except for Rush Hour even the Asians there. 😆 I like to see reaction channels cover his classics like Drunken Master 2, Wheels on Meals, Dragons Forever, Armour of God 2 Operation Condor, Police Story 1-3 etc. Heck even Hong Kong movies he made during Rush Hour decade is much better like 2004's New Police Story, Rumble in the Bronx, Who Am I and Rob-B-Hood.
