I've actually heard people be critical of Max for causing trouble between Eleven and Mike but I think Eleven really needed to expand her horizons and become a more well-rounded person. Hopper might have done the right thing even if he went about it the wrong way.

​@Magnoliya Zhekova! I feel like the word "toxic" for a first relationship when this kids are 13/14 is a little too much. I remember that age. It was pretty normal to spend a lot of time with your gf/bf in the first months. With time you learn to chill a little. I liked the Max/Eleven friendship tho. And I don't blame Max or see her "getting in the way" of Mileven, I blame Hopper, who is an ADULT meddling in teenager things and doing it the wrong way.

El absorbed a lot of what Max told her about boys/relationships without really understanding half of it. She's upset about Mike lying to her, and in her flawed way uses Max's harsh words to express it. Anyway, they're young and resilient!

Billy was clearly being told to do stuff by the mind flayers who's infected him. Billy fought it at first when it was telling him to kill Mike's mom, he resisted, told her to stay away to protect her. Poor Billy, hes clearly not in control much anymore and he may be a angry bully in s2 but hes not a killer or maniac, so he was forced to take that girl lifeguard. Love Eleven finding her own identity and girl bonding too. Billy also saw himself and a group of others in the upside down because that's what the mind Flayer wants him to do, like he said "Build what you see"

AHHHHHH Billy always makes me so sad because he literally doesn’t have anyone to talk to, and I bet if he went to the hospital at any point Neil would beat his ass 😔😔 (I know it’s kinda his fault because he doesn’t know how to process emotions but it’s still really sad)

Idk if it was addressed or not, but being a kid born in the 80s, I can tell you a bit about why the Mall explosion in the 80s is a sour topic. It ended up booming in the late 80s/ early 90s and lasted pretty much until covid. These malls would come in with big brand names, and push put many small family owned businesses out of town. As a teen I frequented many malls. I loathe them now. (Also most in the DFW area are ghost malls)
