When the 1st Guardians Of The Galaxy film came out I had little expectations when I went to see it since they were the Marvel characters I knew the least about prior to seeing them on the big screen. I ended up loving the 1st film, the 2nd film, & the 3rd film so much that to me it's the overall best/most consistent movie trilogy Marvel has made. I'd say my only complaint with this film is (similar with Darren Cross becoming M.O.D.O.K. then trying to redeem himself) Adam Warlock's development/redemption felt rushed; he was set up as this big threat, then he was comic relief, then confused about what he wanted after his mom died, & then he saves Star Lord & joined the Guardians at the end.

Totally nailed it too, easily one of the best superhero name drops ever, Gunn is GOATed for the guardians trilogy, I kinda wish he could just makes gotg movies forever lol, such a lovable team and easily some of the most fun movies in the MCU and by far the movies with the most heart and emotion. This was truly the perfect send off for this guardians team we all love so much and for James Gunn in the MCU. Couldn’t have asked for a better more satisfying trilogy ender, they really knocked it out of the park with this movie. I now very much look forward to James Gunn’s DCU, hopefully we finally get the great DC universe on screen that so many of their iconic characters deserve and that the fans have been asking for forever. MCU having some real competition would be good too, if the DCU is good like I bet it will be it’ll force the MCU to step up their game so DC doesn’t surpass them in quality and that’s a win win for us fans. Anyway my comment is a lot of rambling but in short it sucks losing this guardians team for good but it was a great send off for the characters and James Gunn in the MCU. Now for us fans of both marvel and DC James Gunn being DC studios CEO is a massive W for us fans and I can’t wait for creature commandos next year and then Gunn’s Superman legacy in 2025 which is the start of the DCU on the big screen , Gunn is gonna nail that movie im totally convinced.

I love that they didn't do the predictable thing of having Gamora love Quill by the end of this movie. Cause we saw how hard it was for Quill to get her to like him. And she also was told all this knowledge about what happened in Infinity War which makes her different. It makes way more sense that by the end of this movie she's pry thinking "I dont love you, but I can see why a different version of me did."

I think a large part of Adam's 'stupidity' is largely due to the fact that he's basically a child. Both from a chronological stand point, and like what Ayesha said, he was taken out of his pod early. There was probably a large part of development that the high evolutionary decided to skip during Adam's gestation process, likely where a lot of the inherent mental maturity would have occurred prior to his 'birth'. That remaining time likely would have been spent developing his mind or brain to match his physical age. So, he's basically an over grown child due to the high evolutionary's hastiness.

Lylla was portrayed by Linda Cardellini. She previously portrayed Hawkeye’s wife Laura. Nebula’s arm cannon reminds me of the upgraded Sentinels from X-Men: Days of Future Past. Ura was portrayed by Daniela Melchior. She was also Cleo Cazo/Ratcatcher in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad. Nathan Fillion was also Cory Pitzner/The Detachable Kid in that same film. At least Peter admitted to screwing up in Infinity War. I also thought I recognized the actor portraying Theel. Nico Santos portrayed Mateo Liwanag in Superstore. My favorite funny moment was Mantis’ powers in Orgocorp. Chukwudi Iwuji has said in several interviews that he doesn’t want us to empathize with the High Evolutionary. He genuinely wants us to hate him. I certainly do. It’s interesting because this is the first villain in a long time that we don’t have to empathize with. In the recent years, that has become the norm throughout most superhero films. My favorite fight scenes were Star-Lord and Groot gunslinging and then of course the Guardians fighting together one last time with No Sleep Till Brooklyn playing in the background. James Gunn confirmed that the High Evolutionary is still alive. They took him into custody on Knowhere. It’s all in a deleted scene. Gamora understandably wasn’t at her best in this film. I liked her the most in Volume 2 because she developed a motherly instinct towards Groot and reconciled with Nebula. At least Peter got to properly say goodbye to Gamora and gain some sense of closure. For me, Groot and Nebula were the highlights of this film. I never thought Nebula would have so much emotion, but I feel like in part it’s because she hung out a lot with Rocket during the blip since he was the only other active Guardian to survive. She even called him a friend right before entering the Orgoscope. As for Groot, he’s become much more reliable. He really surprised me with the ammo and the wings. It’s so cool that he could fly now, or at least glide. He also made me almost cry when he saw Peter freezing to death. The dude really is the heart of the squad. Drax also got some development. He only ever danced because that’s how he met his wife. After he lost her and their daughter, he refused to dance again. Now that he’s found fatherhood again, he can wave his hands in the air and not care about embarrassment. And finally, Come And Get Your Love by Redbone helps bring the Guardians’ journey full circle. Regarding the future of the Guardians, even though the whole team survived which is good news, the sad news is that this movie is still the last time we’ll see some of them. Dave Bautista said that he would like to move on to do some more dramatic roles. I also understand that having to sit still during makeup can be a hassle. Zoe Saldaña has also said this would be her last time portraying Gamora but would like to see her portrayed by someone else in the future. Personally I don’t see anyone else fit for the role. If we’re fortunate, maybe we’ll see her again for The Kang Dynasty and/or Secret Wars. Either way, Zoe is grateful for all the positive feedback on her portrayal especially from the female fan base. Karen Gillan did express interest in portraying Nebula again. I would personally hope so, because we’ve seen an immense amount of character development from her - especially with Volume 2, Endgame, and this film.
@nwyk153 Жыл бұрын
Well said! Nebula grown on me since Guardians 2. She just want a sister. I liked her even more in Endgame. Not sure i liked what Gunn did to Gamora's character, but at least Quill got closure in the end. I hoped they do the 4th installment, but in my heart they should just stop here. The ending is perfect.

Peter didn't screw up in Infinity War though. If he hadn't lost it when he did and the heroes had managed to get the gauntlet off of Thanos, Thanos would've won and half the universe would've been gone forever. Peter had to lose it in that moment for the one win out of 14 million to happen.

This movie is about surviving abusive parents. The treatment of rocket and his friends hits particularly hard, because they’re 100% emotional proxies for children. Like children who have never experienced anything, dreaming of a better life, with an emotionally and physically abusive foster father. Rocket and his friends act like 8 year olds in their naïveté and it’s gut wrenching to see them treated as they are. Drax was always meant to be a great dad… and he was lost and made dumb through the first two movies because his family was killed and he could no longer be a father. But he’s been dad jokes and clueless all along. Can’t talk about most of their child-parent issues without spoiling, but want to mention baby Groot, and literally watching him grow from child to adult over 3 movies, with a wonderful found family. And this movie explains Rocket’s love for prosthetics. Lyla’s arms, Teefs and Floor’s multiple prosthetics… he sees beauty in them and connection to his first friends.

One bit some folks miss near the end is that the High Evolutionary makes a big deal of having “turned some portion of [his] genius” towards himself and mastering gravity (the power he uses throughout the movie)… but Rocket used gravity traps in the second movie, and is testing out his gravity boots (that the Guardians use on the Orgoscope) early in the film. So when he is pinned to the ceiling by the HE he just reaches down and flips on his boots to cancel out the High Evolutionary’s power. He was better than the High Evolutionary, again.

GOTG Vol 1 was my mom’s favorite comic book movie ever, sadly she passed away from cancer complications in 2015 at just 65 years old. What hooked her to the movie at first was the soundtrack of many of the songs she grew up on, but then she loved it so much that she became a fan of the MCU. It’s why this franchise has a very special place in my heart. So when Dog Days Are Over (ANOTHER favorite of mine and my mom’s) was playing and the Guardians were celebrating/moving on with their lives, I was a wreck. Not out of pain of loss, but of remembering the good times I had with my mom. As for the movie itself, it’s one of my top 10 favorite comic book movies ever, as well as an all time favorite. With a supervillain I have never wanted to kill more than The High Evolutionary. And I love that the song that was played to send off the Guardians Of The Galaxy was the first song we as the audience heard when we saw Peter in the opening titles of Vol 1. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go listen to Come And Get Your Love by Redbone!

I loved this movie. I hadn't cried as much as I did watching this in such a long time. I believe James Gunn explained why we could suddenly understand Groot, it's because we had become their family, and that's why none of the Guardians reacted to his words, that's what they always hear. But, I will admit, I was sobbing when Lylla was shot and Rocket let out that scream...it broke my heart. And, because of his friends, it made so much sense why he was always trying to collect prosthetics.

At the very end, I thought that the 'star lord will return' screen would say something like 'Star Lord Will Return After He Mows The Lawn'. The "You weren't born to be a destroyer. You were born to be a dad." is what finally turned on the waterworks the first time I saw it. I mean, i'd been tearing up a little bit here and there, but that line...god damn.

I was sobbing just like you, Nikki. It was so emotional. Used my sweatshirt to soak up the tears cause I didn't have tissues either lol. Lost it a couple of time with Lylla and everything Rocket related. And then completely lost it again at the end with Quill's grandpa. Very much love how Nebula is such an integral part of the team now. So happy she found a family and a home. Really enjoyed the whole story with all the silly shit and tragedy and dark humour and all. Having so many quirky weird and special characters finding their chosen family hits me right in the heart. And then the freaking great soundtrack on top... Just works perfectly. Loved it! 🥰

this was just as incredible in theaters on opening day with a packed theater of marvel fans as Endgame was. you could hear the cheers and sniffles everywhere... so good. and when i left the theater, i put on my headphones and went to the busstop listening to Florence and The Machine "Dog days are over" :) such a good time. BEST Marvel movie easily. James Gunn is a mad genius and i will miss him in the MCU but excited to see what he does with the DCU. Love the spinoff potential of the ending too, new guardians team, Mantis should get a "story of the week" spin off show about her just going on adventures through the galaxy with her pet-basilisks..... so damn good. pure love for this movie

All this time, the guardians have been always hearing Groot speaks but those who lack connection with Groot can only hear "I am Groot". Towards the end of the movie, we heard Groot speaks because the movie implied that we finally connected with Groot.

Groot saying “I love you guys” at the end isn’t him actually saying it, but us the audience finally being able to understand him, as if we are now one with the Guardians. It’s a really beautiful full circle moment that James Gunn has rewarded us with after sticking with the Guardians for all these years.

33:37-33:56 Remember how Rocket was "programmed to be peaceful"? You can only push the most peaceful being so far before you get something you didn't expect. Since he'd never been violent before, and had never held a gun before. The "High Evolutionary" seriously misjudged his threshold. 34:30-34:33 was a moment I was anticipating for this entire video up to this point. "How did Nikki hold up?" And Nikki, you held together well. 40:20-40:28 was the second moment I was concerned about, and that's when Nikki cracked. Now she cracked, there's no patching that until the end of the movie. 48:05-48:08 Steve: "Groot is... Beast" Oh, I think I need to disagree there. Beast would mean animal. Groot is a plant. 57:56-58:00 Steve: "Hey, Drax is dancing!" Remember earlier when he said "only idiots dance" ? Put that together with Nebula's "You weren't born to be a destroyer. You were born to be a dad." I ask you, "What dad isn't willing to be an idiot for his children?" Two major character turning points I got from this movie: Gamora, when she told Nebula "I am family" when her sister responded "So is he" it opened a light on her view. Suddenly, the sister she _knows_ and has this long history with, making that statement was a turning point. Adam, when he asked why he was saved, and the translation was given to him "everyone deserves a second chance" led to his choosing to save Quill. Adam, remember, they brought him out before he was "completely ready" I would liken him to Hulk in Thor Ragnarok. Hulk had been Hulk for a couple years. He has that childlike "doesn't know better" perspective.

Dw Nikki, I found myself breaking down multiple times throughout this movie... especially the part when Lyla meets Rocket at what I can only interpret at the 'gates of the afterlife', seeing Teeth and Floor in the background waving and the guilt Rocket felt for feeling like he got them all killed... just wrecks me everytime.
