Saw her performing at Wood Festival, was blown away. I have always naturally liked that genre, but also had found it museified into archaic or outdated ideas and references. She researches folk songs, and found a lot unsingable in a modern context, and I agree. She has brought it to be relevant to our times with love and care, research and craft. She is bringing the poetic and musical expression of our time to a timeless quality.

Thanks so much! And you’re right, I really hope someone makes a film of his life. He married a local girl, Margaret Gruffydd, & they had 7 children. So he has descendants, it’s an amazing story #BlackHistoryWales
