After the killer is revealed in season 2 the show just completely plummets. It goes off on so many different subplot tangents and the entire heart of the show is lost... until the third last episode when it ends with the red room being seen in a reflection of water and this exact music begins to play. It’s as if the show suddenly remembered exactly what it was.

In my humble opinion, if they shortened or cut out Josie's plotline in season 2, so it was like a 2-3 episode arc after BOB's reveal, and went straight into Windom Earle, season 2 would be looked at more fondly.
