I would like to take the time to say thankyou for your sharing of knowledge with bushcraft and survival skills, I have learned mostly from trial and error and these videos have shown me a lot that has helped me out over the years, other than watching my favorite oldie western station on TV, I live most of my life like it was still the 17/1800s, . I spent most of my time in a camp somewhere out in the woods or on the river but even my home is a one room cabin with just a few lights and TV, I heat with wood and also cook on the woodstove during winter and mostly outside during summer, I love it and would not trade for a mansion with all modern convenience. It's my choice in life and it's what makes me and my wife happy, but anyway, thankyou for your help with these videos, you keep them coming and I'll keep watching

Living in Sweden I have seen many Finnish Puukkos. TBS MKII have almost nothing in common with them. I would just call it a typical modern Bushcraft knife. Puukos also have mostly a traditional sheet that is very much screaming made in Finland- The sheet for TBS MKII is very typical fot the UK.

Sitting in AL which is southern US 3 months after video aired I'd be so happy to see weather like that. Actually I'd like to see that kinda weather any time of the year here. Just found your videos and am enjoying them. Thanks

I have a few tbs older models, I always replace the stitching on the sheaths as I prefer waxed thread, the thread they use on there's doesn't last long outdoors.

In my experience with knives, I only use carbon steel blade knives they are easy to sharpen and will throw a spark with a Ferro rod or a piece of Flint, several of my knives are made from 3V steel which is harder to sharpen in the field but once sharp they stay sharp for a long time and the effort to sharpen them is worth the end result

Short easy answer I'd put a couple holes in flap and use a couple rivets to shorten the distance in the sheath flap. No its not perfect but what I'd do to make it work. Or maybe pack cloth in bottom of Sheath so knife rides higher

To fix the sheath retention issues i got some tennis racket handle tape off amazon, cut a 2 inch section off and stuck it to the inside of the sheath where the knife handle contacts the leather , once buttoned up its in there and staying there . Cheap fix .

@@BecomingwildmanHope the advice serves you well buddy. I've had the same piece in nearly a year now and I scout carry with no issues at all . I used the rest of the grip tape to wrap my kukri and still had some left over for future use on the wolverine.

I just ordered one of these from TBS. I am looking forward to receiving it. I ordered mine with a standard pouch style sheath as I do not carry my knives scout style. I am curious were TBS has their knives made. The construction and materials remind me of Spanish made knives. I'm thinking it may be the same OEM as Casstrom. Thoughts?
@Becomingwildman
@Becomingwildman Жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, thanks for the sub. In regards to your question. The Tbs knives are produced in England as far as I know and the casstrom are Scandinavian,not sure if it's from Sweden. That's as far as I know but I'm not 100% on that.
@jasoncornu6188
@jasoncornu6188 Жыл бұрын
@@Becomingwildman Casstrom knives are manufactured in Spain. The final quality check is done in Sweden. As far as TBS, after reading the information on their website they state all of their knives are designed in house and manufactured with "the finest European materials" but they never come out and say that their knives are made in England. I believe them to be Spanish in origin, which is perfectly ok, the Spanish make a fine knife.

Hi, thanks for reviewing the knife for us! I would have a question for you regarding the second sheath (the one with the flap) beiing : If you would carry the sheath upside down, like a leftie would do it, would that solve the issue about the knife falling out?
@Becomingwildman
@Becomingwildman 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question. I wouldn't do that, that sheath has a cut on the side of the entrance, but I'm using that sheath now,all I did was put an extra lock on it so now I can use that sheath with a tight fit and the flap is adjustable for 2 sizes of knives. I may make a video just about that.
@fox15jk
@fox15jk 9 ай бұрын

Tbs has left handed sheaths. So that saves you the trouble 😉 and I do like it now even though I kind of burnt it to the ground in this vid. I recommend you looking into it. Where are you from? You can contact bushcraftshop.nl if your not from England or America

@@fox15jk that's because it's a special order,we don't carry stock. Just send a message to the customer care, make an account. They will arrange it for you and order it at Tbs. Might take 2 or 3 weeks. I'm not working now but probably your request will end up on my desk 😉🤠

Fully review.. as if you made or designed it yourself 😛... about the sheetcomplains.. can't you contact the firm who make them!? Because they give life warranty also on the sheet... but when the sheet gets to big after a short time, that's also a warranty of not getting hurt or wounded by it when it falls out! Who knows what you get out of it 😉👍....

It's how leather works. Unless they come out with a new design with this knife in mind,it wouldn't solve a thing.

Why should a Bushcraft knife handle abuse??? Maybe because you don’t know how to use it properly??? The Mora Companion is the best Bushcraft knife made, I say BUSHCRAFT not Survival! Why baton it? You should have an axe with you, Bushcraft NOT Survival!! You don’t need an overbuilt monstrosity for Bushcraft tasks.

Thanks for your reply Howard, i can assure you that as a former Bushcraft instructor,I really know what a knife is able to do . I disagree that you need an axe to do those tasks. An axe is more heavy to carry around and unless you plan to build shelters, it's often overkill. Less is more. Btw I do agree that Mora is a great bushcraftknife,that's why we use it in our beginners course. I wish you much pleasure into further developing your bushcraft skills and knowledge

Hi Jim, thanks for giving ving your input. Unfortunately you want find good value in Europe at 100€ ,it's not just the steel you know, it's the machines and the labor. And for a large part tax, it doesn't help that this knife is made in the UK and Brexit unfortunately results into more tax so I do agree with you until a certain level but the steel is not what is driving the price up here. Cheers
