They both paid so high a price for their Love. Meggie could never love a Man the way she loved Ralph and she spent her whole life wanting a Man who loved God more than her. Ralph on the other hand spent his whole life haunted by Two Factors, his love for The Church and The Love of Meggie. I bet my bottom dollar Meggie would die afterwards, living without him is impossible.

The symbolism of Thorn Birds is that Ralph is the bird with his heart beating for God and Maggie and he is torn between both worlds. He succumbs to a slow death over the years and, therefore, he is the bird that is crying for love for Maggie and God and in his chest is the thorn before he dies. I also like the scene where Stanwyck sees him nude, and he reminds her of her youth as a young woman and that her age has caught up with because men are no longer attracted to her.

I regret ever watching this. I watched this video few months ago and until now, whenever I remember the jumpscare, I get this sense of anxiety and panic, same feeling as in my nightmares. 😅 I’m pretty sure it shouldn’t have affected me so much and I hope I can forget about it one day.
