Toms playing all of you. He can sing perfectly but chooses not to.
@Tess10616 жыл бұрын
His voice deteriorated for more reasons than simply, "lack of use" or "not giving a fuck". 1. (The biggest reason) Tom has never been able to sing -- *he sings through his throat.* This method (over time) will shred your vocal chords, *especially* if you ever have to strain to hit notes for long periods at a time. - In general, Tom has never done any sort of good vocal warm-ups or tended to his voice in manners that most serious vocalists do to ensure the proper health for their voice box/vocal chords. --- As far as "not giving a fuck", Tom NEVER (in his entire life) gave a fuck to handle his vocal chords with the serious care they deserved, since day 1 of his music career. 2. He took some very strong drugs during the years his back was in recovery -- and they could have potentially damaged his voice box, because he did /abuse/ said drugs. 3. Tom's voice is an enigma all in itself -- and has ALWAYS changed drastically in sound / texture, since he was 16. --- Currently (in late 2017/now) his SPEAKING voice is so much deeper than it has ever been in his entire life, and now when he sings there is so much bass to it -- I barely even recognized it was him the first time I heard a sample from one of his last EPs. If Tom had ever cared to learn to sing properly and take care of his vocal chords and voice box, it would've sounded consistent throughout the years. This doesn't include aging. Obviously his voice would change through puberty and once he hit his mid-adult life, and again later once he's old. But despite the aging, his voice would've still retained a lot of its core sound if he had practiced vocals in ways that weren't damaging to his voice.

I'm so tired of people saying "so & so's" voice suck(s) live. Tom said himself (not about/in defense of his voice live, or anything) that since the very start of even his smallest bit of success, his goal playing shows was to *have fun* and goof off with his friends on stage (which is very obvious even to this day). The documentary, which is on YT and I recommend watching if you like the band or music in general is; "In Pursuit of Tone". His words were something along the lines of "the music was just a tool to get you to come out, but we're just going to do what we wanna do and have fun, even if it's just being annoying and making dumb fart and poop jokes the whole time and nobody likes it". That's literally what he wanted to do, he wanted to be in front of people. So, when you put that into context and think about them live compared to a band like Linkin Park, for example (RIP chester

classic shitty tom singing, I love it
@sweetsweepbeat12 жыл бұрын
problem with live shows is the huge amount of reverb which can trick you into thinking they sing well which gives the wow effect of live performance. Nobody sings better than their recorded version since every recorded version is enhanced with many tricks and nooks (exemple: uneard auto-tune under the voice which make you sing perfectly...been used since the 80s). Tom has always been a crappy tone deaf singer. That's why I never went to see them live tho I love blink since i was a kid ahaha:P
@sweetsweepbeat12 жыл бұрын
first: it is well mixed...this can't be accomplished right out of the recording from the show. someone had to sit with it and mix it so it sounds that way. Then that person could easily make a double of the voice track, use it as auto tune, mark the right key, and just lower the volume so you can't perceive it.

Obviously he was flat in some areas but he actually was not as bad as I've in other performances and did correct his pitch halfway through. Years of singing with a lack of technique and being high on painkillers will obliterate the vocal folds along with just the wear and tear of getting older. This song is still one of my absolute favorites of all time and changed my life. This lineup was soooo good (though I guess Matt had either already left or not joined yet here).
