Couldn't you protect ape first turn, water Terra ape. Surging strikes into him and then it would guarantee he gets the boost? Or does ursh break protect and other people can then hit you

Really liked the games! I just think at some points going for rage fist was better than for drain punch due to the power (after ape got hit at least twice), but maybe I am wrong. Love the content!!

Why is the primeape 252hp? Wouldn't it be better to invest more into Def and spdef, with the eviolite? Or is this for better recovery from drain punch?

Yes, most of the HP EVs would go a lot further in defense. Think about it this way, with no EVs or IVs primeape has almost twice the hp stat as it’s defense (even though it’s base 65HP vs base 60 Def). Max EVs just boost a stat by a flat 31 points at lvl 50, so by the numbers you’re looking at a higher % increase to the def than if you add it to HP. Factor that 1.5x boost too… but realistically you want at least some EVs in HP to maximize your bulk when it’s so bad.

Interesting to choose eviolite Primeape. I imagine this strat would work fine with Aqua breed Tauros too.

Main factors that make primape particularly viable are the ability to hold eviolite which is a lot of bulk, access to rage fist, making the triple crit from surging strikes do double duty. Drain punch and encore or some other tech (like taunt) and it is a fair bit better.

There are some Taurus teams that work like this. But like thespiangamr sayed, there are reason to choose this one. My guess is Tauros does work better if you don't the anger point off

Tauros sounds cool, but Urshifu is much more consistent to make Anger Point work.

@@idr121 LOL Taurus is a replacement for primeape as it also gets anger point, not a replacement for Urshifu. It also adds some weirdness where you have two water-fighting types on the field at once

Wierd. Game 1+2 Thunderous has a Sitrus berry. But in game three i noticed when in team selection it said no item. 🤔

Why didn't you aqua jet the Sylveon for the KO in game 1?

Cos a psychic move was likely going into the urshifu slot, so if he aqua jets then the urshifu would just be knocked out in return, not a good trade. By switching into chien pao, it’s immune to psychic, stalls out a turn of trick room and can follow up with priority ice shard the next turn
