It's worth trying to finishing the War of the Roses before finishing the war with france, the mission gives you -10% AE impact, which helps a lot vs everybody hating you.

Something which is really fun is Anglois is an old french word to designate the English. The fact that it's a part of French culture group is accurate owing to the french origins of English kings at this period

Hey Lubi, you should make a video for "Raiding coast" nations. All Norse can raid via lvl 4 government reform, Mahgreb culture got 2 government reforms AND a naval doctrine, they increased raiding range, aragorn has a special raiding coast modifier (+2 raiding range!!!!) and even the generic pirate ideas have received a +1 raiding range. There are also some other nice naval updates, like new trade region connections, portugal can get +1 attack when attacking from ships or over straits and those nice military government reforms like Amphibic, the 2 British Navy reforms and some other nice things. What would be YOUR ultimate raiding coast nation? ATM I'm trying to form Great Britain as Norse Gotland Pirates.

just to note Ludi, you don't NEED to win the 100 year's war when the maine event fires. You can just scede it, and then go the avigen path and get a PU CB. It's way easier to do this cause you can call in allies.

Actually you can Call allies in maine event. I have allied Austria, Castile and portugal and luckly castile had france as rival. So i could Call Austria and Castile to this war and won easily

What I like to do is to siege 2 forts and Paris to get enough war score for asking max cash from the French, Mothball the conquered forts for a month and after enforcing the peace I declare immediately on the Scots. the Scots will call France, just that now it has 2 mothballed forts and beating them will be much easier, this time I will use again 25 war score to ask for money. From my point of view this is the best way to go as England as this will also give the French the option to conquer Provence so that you will not have to.

Lol u can call in allies for the maine offensive. U just need to restart until castile and aragon sees france as a rival. (Or burgundy in the extremely rare case they dont rival u.) Then manually call them in with promise land during the war. Easiest hundred year war of ur life. Doesn't matter if they break alliances after, u will be the strongest power in europe with the french pu

@@SamurAshe Yes, but If I call allies then I will have to share the peace deal cash with them. Alone I can claim from the French around 900, but with castile and Burgundy in the war I will get only ~350. Also my aim is just to make the French weaker in the beginning and I don't need full war score for that, while for the PU you have 25 years to claim their throne and with this time I can get more modifiers for aggressive expansion reduction.

My favorite game with England was when I attacked Brittany the same time the French did before the Maine event. I made Brittany a vassal and then Austria castile and Aragorn all joined in the defensive war verses France.

I wonder if it's because of that parliamentary debate I did at the beginning that mentioned something about the Angevin Empire. Edit: No, it wasn't that. That's just the Bill of Rights debate. I have no clue why I never got the surrender of Maine event.

I didn't get it either one of my playthroughs, i'm convinced it was because I had lots of mercenaries and castile and britanny as allies so maybe the ai thought "we'll never win this" and decided not to? i dont know if that's how it works but when i restarted and got less troops it fired really early

@@Mlemona not sure how accurate the wiki is, but I may have had a truce with France because I focused on unifying the British isles, where France was always allied to Scotland any time I was ready to fire the subjugation CB, forcing me to attack an Irish ally of Scotland instead and then making them break their alliance with France.

This start is kind of necessary because the starting ruler is ruler in name only and simply has zero mana pips as a result, also infertile and more interested in religious pursuits; Basically the royal council and parliament runs the country, historically Henry VI was the last king who had a legitimate claim to form the Angevin, but he had zero interest in it, following him England suffered a series of succession crisis and lost all their French territories. So if you want to change history, affirmative action and reform is required at the very start. The +1 in all 3 categories is necessary and repealing the villain law helps prevent you ending up with only 5% crownland after you hand out land for governing mana.

What I did as England was ally Castile and Austria, curry favors immediately, sell Maine to Provence, attack Provence, take Maine back then get Surrender of Maine, this way you delay the event so you have enough favors with allies to call them all in the war, funnily enough, it was still a pain in the ass because France alone is almost as strong as 3 great powers

But you don’t need to culture convert the Welsh or the Cornish, when you complete the mission Angevin Culture, it changes Welsh and Cornish as well as Lowland (Scots) to Anglois along with every English province. So no more pesky separatists. Then you just need to culture convert the Irish and highlanders. Next time you re run!

Actually the easiest trick since the maine event update still works, u just need castile or aragon or burgundy(rare case) to rival france and u can ally them. Then manually call them in with promise of land after the war fires. U also wanna deny any potential french friends like savoy by allying them first too. Diplo relations cap doesn't matter. Dont rival Scotland until u get maine event or they probably will ally each other.

Start with Diplo ideas and hold back with the conquest a little bit. Requires a little RNG as to when Austria dies for the first time. The second chance could be a lot later.

I don't like the fact that when you create the personal unions with spain, italy and ireland, they don't get cores on the rest of the regions where they don't have provinces. Meaning that is a waste to give them the rest of the territories in their respective regions and you can't roleplay this like i actually would like to. But like always, great play Ludi!

Not a complete waste, Spain will colonize for you, and Italy still let’s you save admin points when taking Italy/southern Germany. Ireland is the closest to useless crown but you still get the bonuses from releasing it, the free cores on all Ireland, and it stays small enough to enable auto inherit.

Why didnt you call allies for land in the war for Maine? I did it with burgundy and castille. Let the french fight castille and let the french peace them out so you keep your alliance with castille. You can always call allies for any war from the diplomacy menus.
