Funny that this popped up on my feed! I am 70 and just started doing craft shows with my husband, daughter and her fiance!!!

Thanks Angie and Bette! Great episode! I only wish I had seen it BEFORE I sunk so much money into starting my business online (still haven't gotten it going).

Do you need a trademark or copyright to protect the products you make or create? If not, how do you protect your products. People copy and steal all the time from people stores online.

As soon as you make a digital file, it is in fact copyrighted. The challenge is finding those people and going after them as it can take up so much time. There is no easy answer unfortunately!

i'm a starter and retired. I do alot of wood burning work and always trying new ideas. But I do not have the inventory to keep up to par. I'm 67 years old.I love artwork. I have done a couple "Bazarr's.and had success. but how you keep up with the 'demand"?

That can be tough for handmade! A few options: market things that are a bit easier to make along with your other items. Or hire someone to do things like shipping and promotion to free up more of your time.

@Angie Holden Question - I always feel bad when I attend an event with a free ticket especially if it has multiple presenters. I always wonder, if the fee for all access, is distributed between all presenters. I know some events have a huge amount of people that do buy the all access but with so many different events i kind of have to pick and choose which ones to buy to not go over budget for what I get since I am on a fixed income. So if I tend to buy from a newer presenter with others presenting and it is a not well known presenter would they kind of not break even on that event. Hope you understand what I am asking about. I totally love events as it helps me to learn but I just want to make sure I am supporting any that I buy from. I don't want the main presenter or host to not make a profit off of their event plus if they have other presenters in the mix I am hoping they also make money. I do wonder if everyone makes a good amount to support themselves too and if so what percentage especially if there are a group of presenters in the event. All presenters work so hard for these!! One thing I kind of hate though is having to sign up for their mailing list just to retrieve the file they just told us about in the event. I like to attend events where I don't have to sign up for 10 to 20 presenters mailings. I get spammed so much from that!!

yeah I hated sales taxes when I did an online business. But mine was a drop ship business. Customers though didn't understand that i was not the one adding sales tax it was the actual company that did that. But they figured, since I was based in Oregon, I shouldn't be charging them sales tax. Totally out of my hands and I told them to take it up with the company.

Joining in for free costs nothing for the organizers and is always welcome! It depends on the event, however, Cori and I actually pay each presenter so they all get something for their time in addition to ticket sales that may or may not happen!
