Amazing. I was looking to know a bit about commercial actors because I am thinking of hiring one to be the face of my company. I just wanted to ask maybe what I should do now? Should I be looking for an agency, or maybe some kind of representation only two maybe three years into this and it comes very natural and i would love to expand my portfolio and get more experiences perhaps TV or film or just more commercials? Hi, I just watched your video and found it very informative. I am a SAG member, achieved by working on a sitcom as a background actor for 19 episodes. Unfortunately, the show got cancelled after 1 season. I went to a SAG AFTRA CSA Senior Actors Town Hall recently and after the show met with a rep from DDO Agency. I sent her a resume and she got back to me suggesting I book an appointment with her. My question is, what should I expect at that initial meeting. She specializes in Commercial and print ads. I've never auditioned before, so I'm a little spooked. Help!
@AngiePattersonYT5 жыл бұрын
That's great! I would not put too much pressure on it; commercial meetings are just so they can see your personality, and see if you'd be a good fit for their agency. So just be yourself! They MAY have you read some commercial material, so see if you can search for some "commercial copy" online and practice it a little bit.
@rich23765 жыл бұрын
@@AngiePattersonYT thank you for the reply. I wasn't sure if I should be prepared to "act" or if I should treat it as a typical job interview. @AngiePattersonYT5 жыл бұрын
@@rich2376 I think you should watch some commercials, look for guys that seem like your type, and wear something like they're wearing in the commercial. Probably something nice/casual, not a suit. No, I've never met with DDO.

How often have you updated your headshots for commercials since you began working in 2011? Any tips for commercial headshots?
@AngiePattersonYT2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jake, I'd say I've shot new commercial headshots about 3 times in the past 10 years. It depends on whether your shots are working well, whether they represent you, if your look has changed you'd need to update, and sometimes the current trends for headshots can change. Always just stay in communication with your reps about it.

Can I submit to multiple agencies??? Also can I book at other agencies if I am already working for a whole different agency ???
@AngiePattersonYT5 жыл бұрын
You definitely SHOULD submit to multiple agencies. Very few will respond - that's just how it is for most of us - so you'll raise your chances by submitting to more. Meet with more than one too, so you can compare and see who is the best fit. But once you sign with them, then no, you cannot book work with anyone else. Unless they're a whole different category, like commercial and theatrical.

But I know that I won't be able to and I'll automatically be out because of my acne. What should I do? All the medications I've tried for the acne hasn't worked. Also, I have ADHD, and anxiety. @The Rain System Hey :) first of all, you are amazing and awesome. Acne is a stage we all pretty much go through so don’t let that get in your way. My friend went to his dermatologist and gave him creams. I also heard that a lack of some type of vitamin B causes acne. Not sure how that works, but try looking it up. I got a pimple between my eyebrows the day of my middle school graduation and also the days before my high school graduation. Lol. I used to stress about it, but it’s whatever now lol. I even name my pimples for the fun of it. Lol. Anyways, Self esteem and self love is first. :) I believe in you! I took two acting classes in my high school and my #1 tip would be to work on body language. But also put your own awesome personality in whatever role you play. Rehearse the lines to the point you feel comfortable. You are awesome. I wish you the best. May God bless and guide your paths.

Legal question in regards to gym commercial I shot. The girl who was in commercial does not want to be in it now after I already shot and edited it, due to her other Zumba instructor who was never supposed to be "featured" in it to begin with. The main girl in commercial asked me minutes before we shot that she wanted her main instructor in it, but I did not want 2 instructors dancing up front....I found out later that the instructors all face the same mirror with all other dancers. So technically she could have been in the commercial, but I had asked her to wait until I got footage of the girl (in the script) and then other instructor could jump in after. This still would have cause confusion for viewers having 2 instructors featured since the main girl was also in gym shots. She needed to be the main person in all of it. She never signed a contract so can the owner still use her in the commercial even though she doesn't not want to be in it?

The people at Killian's Workshop are really unpleasant and unprofessional, so apparently the attitude starts at the top and trickles downward. I would never give them my business and it only took one phone conversation with an employee to make up my mind. Step 1: get lucky and be born attractive. Step 2: get artificial love throughout your life based upon this luck and become so pretentious you never develop any other traits beyond looks. Step 3: claim you can teach a skill you lucked into, know nothing about acquiring and are clueless about teaching. Step 4: deal with your vapid, undeserving luck and reward from nothing of your doing. Step 5: live off your husband who chose you for looks while you pretend to be special or important. So sad.
