Commercial Acting Contracts and In-Perpetuity. If you’re an actor who wants to get into commercial acting, it’s crucial that you learn about commercial acting contracts and all they entail. To do this, we must really understand what the definition of in-perpetuity and buyouts are. Before signing on to acting in any commercial, especially if it isn’t SAG-AFTRA affiliated, and it’s nonunion, WATCH THIS VIDEO!!! Hollywood Talent Manager Wendy Alane Wright will teach you everything you need to know about contracts, SAG-AFTRA, buyouts and in-perpetuity use.

"I honestly felt like I learned more about the business of acting [in Hollywood Winners Circle Academy] than anything I ever known. And I thought I knew a lot being a recent graduate of the American Academy Of Dramatic Arts. Wendy you were very patient and kind to me. You took the time out to see where I was coming from and leveled with me so I could fully understand what I was getting myself into. Thank you so much for speaking very clearly about how to build relationships with actors, directors and casting directors. Wendy Alane Wright is an amazing person. Can't wait to see what the future holds." - Luc Jean

Thanks for the great info. I am an actor who has worked on lots of union commercial contracts, and a few non union commercial contracts. Now, I produce commercials that are almost always exclusively web based. I have not been able to convince any brand I have produced for to pay union rates on commercials. Everything is non-union and just about every company seeks a lifetime buyout (not because they plan on using it forever, but instead because they do not have a dept to handle making sure they send checks to actors every year if the commercial is still online in some form.). If you search actors access for non-union commercials, many are only offering $300 or less per day, and that includes a lifetime buyout. The actors that tend to agree to these deals are either actors who are just getting started, or actors who just want to have fun on a shoot. I recently posted a commercial that pays a total of $600 for a day session which includes the buyout fee... and I received over 1000 submissions (all LA based) in the first day.

About 90% of acting gigs are Non union these days why? Because production companies don't want anything to do with SAG because they don't want to pay more
