Awesome tool, very clever design. It takes me over an hour to make what you just made in less than 5 minutes.

I have the tool for some years now. But a little tip to use it is to use carpenter's tape on the back.. you can then put all parts against each other on the sticky side... apply glue and then close it all in one sweep. It's way easier than the use ot the tool you showed after you have made the cuts.

I know this is somewhat arbitrary, but I would almost consider threading the wire through before dropping the foam onto the tool and pulling it towards you, that was after you cut the wire is already on the outside. But I'm sure it doesn't make any real difference, just avoiding the foam getting caught up after the cut.

Hey Gerard! the tool looks amazing, good job! I have a question i hope you can help me with. I recently started my first project with styrodur, and found out that the foam is quite porous, and when painted with acrylic paints, it absorbs it a bit leaving me with a "pory" surface that isnt smooth looking. i decided to do a few coats with modpodge, but after 2 coats it still was to porous. I then decided to just do a thin coat of plaster mixed with mod podge, and although that does give me a smooth and non porous surface after sanding, its still not 100% what i want it to be, and seems like to much work for it to be right. what do you do to your styrodur before painting it? maybe i am doing it right with the plaster but i wondered what you do, and if its any different and better. hope you can help me out!

I think you might have a kind of foam type that divers from the xps types I am using. The ones I use do not have such an open structure so they do not need any preparation at all before painting. Although XPS is the name for a specific kind of foam, within that group there are many kinds of XPS. Some are softer some are harder, some have a fine and some have a rough/open structure. When looking for foam, always check the sides of the foam sheet, there you kan see how the structure looks like. If you look at the sheet from the top, you see a layer / coating that is never the same as the actual foam underneath. If you have to go through so much work to get a decent surface I can imagine looking for another type of foam and use this foam for those parts of your build that you can not see when it is finished ( a roof shape where you glued roof tiles on to it for example) Hope this helps,

@Shiftinglands thank you! The foam i have is basf styrodur 2800c, and i think appart from the c value its the same as your? Maybe i did something to it but i did buy 1m³ pack of 4 big sheets so i preferably use all of that first.
