Angled Souls sent me the v2 version of their soul plates for Them 909 aggressive inline skates. They are an advanced soul plate with new angles to make skating ledge easier. This video is my first session skating them. How fast do they slide? Do they feel bulky? Does it make rail harder to skate? Find out in this video.

If anyone has tips to get less noisy audio from my new rode mic, please let me know ❤(More gain, less gain) Consider supporting me on Patreon too ❤www.patreon.com/BrandonDrummond

Former sound engineer here. Gain should be saturating the yellow without going into the red wherever possible. If you take a look at your audio in editor after the fact and you see your signal hitting the limit (peaking), drop the gain when recording a little... Not sure what exact mic you are using but if there's no foam pop-shield that would be the first thing I'd try. After that it's probably editing work if you want to try and clean it up some more. You really want to get as good a signal as possible to begin with and that usually comes down to mic positioning more than anything. But anyway, the video sounded fine to me! They say in sound engineering that you can't polish a turd, but you CAN laminate one! : An easy hack I use to thicken the sound of a mic a little is to add a very subtle reverb (it shouldn't be noticeable to the audience), there's a bunch of other post-processing and EQ you could do of course, but I don't think it's necessary and adding extra steps to your workflow is probably not worth the (perceived) improvement... TLDR: Your audio is fine!

Thanks so much for the help man. It's nice to hear an expert say my audio is fine. My problem is my new mic "Rode Reporter" has a constant "FFFF" sound that is really loud. I had to use an AI noise remover to fix it in this video. I hate how the filter makes some of my voice sound like a zoom call. Any tips for reducing that sound in the recording? I used a Sony IC recorder to capture the audio@@RichTeaChannel

@@BrandonDrummond Hard to know what sort of frequency range that is without hearing it... If it's there all of the time (like even in a quiet room) it sounds like potential defect in either the hardware or the setup!? Bear in mind that mic is omni-directional so it can pick up sounds from all sides (it could be picking up some other hardware making that noise). Definitely test to confirm if it's still there by swapping both the mic and the recorder if possible. Assuming you can't get rid of it, my normal approach is to use a EQ to first pinpoint and boost just the offending sound to isolate it. Once you have it, you can then notch out just that frequency range instead of relying on the sledge-hammer approach (but if an AI tool works, it works).

If the FFFF sound is kind of like air/white noise rather than a narrow frequency, it could be too much gain at capture like you speculated originally. I'd run a compressor at 3:1 as standard on any vocal mic and probably a noise gate which could be enough to make a difference. Again, hesitant to suggest too much processing... HMU if you need a hand tho.

I like the idea, but hate the price tag. I don't care how good they are, I'm not about to pay more money for sole plates than I did for the whole skate, and there's absolutely no way these things are worth $400.

I’m glad someone is skating these with diridari frames. How do they match up with that deep groove?

Love the concept too. My soul plates end up looking like this when they’re broken in, but the problem is the backslide groove disappears.

I've found the groove on these are easier to sit in than a broken in soul too. It's less rounded. They're really onto something with this design.

i really hope that we end up either seeing angled souls get contracted to develop first party plates, or that they end up finding a way to produce them cheaper so that this can become more common because these souls look so good. sadly ill probably never have a pair unless what i said above happens.

I usually change my soulplates as soon as they starts being a liiiiiitle bit angled due to grinding so I have my fair share of doubts as to how if I could like angled souls to be honest.... I guess I would have to try

It seems to be harder to land topside tricks on ledge and not unhook with that narrow soul plate. What do you think?

Hope you get better soon. I really would like to buy a pair of them, but I'm afraid with import taxes (Germany) they'll cost me an arm and a leg.

I wonder if this is something the other brands will copy or if there is some patent protection? Seems like it would make sense for other brands to offer this option on their soles.. This would make it cheaper obviously but would be terrible for the inventor!

@@aaronwhite5206 I'd recomend USD Aeon 60s if you want a simple easy to get going skate. Value for money i'd go with the "Playlife Reactor skate". Otherwise USD Sways, Roces M12, Roces 5th Elements, Them 909, Razor SL are all great all-round skates. My fave right now are the Them 909s. I'd go with the ones you like the look of the best.

What country are you based in? That shouldn't be too much of an issue. I'd recommend skating flat though so your wheels last longer. A Skateshop would be better at answering that question I think.@@aaronwhite5206

Thanks for ruining your knee to bring us this review. I'd be very interested to try this product but 1) They don't make them for the M12 (yet?) 2) There's no way I can afford them Also, how is porn so hard to learn? It was my second soul trick I learned after soul grind But you're right, your souls in those videos look like noob souls. Even mine look (a tiny bit) better by now 😀
