Really good thoughts Ben! As someone who's currently skating angled souls, and has over the years skated juiced I have some info to add! Juiced souls do in fact lock you into rails better, but this is a double edged sword if you like doing switchups (like me). It can make it tough to get out of the grind. When skating ledges "juiced" soul tricks slide extremely fast due to less friction, but, balance can be an issue for someone not experienced in flexing over, I'd say they reason people always say "juiced is great for ledges" has more to do with topside tricks, where there's little friction and it keeps you "hooked" on to the ledge. Now angled souls. You said there was a possibly that the angle could "slip you off" or "funnel you onto" a rail. Both could be true! I haven't slipped off a rail from the angle yet, but I'd consider myself a pretty experienced skater. Could be an issue for someone inexperienced 🤷♂️ I HAVE had the angle funnel me INTO the rail more than once though. So there is some truth to that. On ledges the angle hands down makes soul foot grinds easier to hold, and the uhmw keeps you sliding fast. I had concerns about topsides having the possibility of "slipping out", but I've personally never had that happen unless I completely miss. Could be an issue for someone who has trouble "rolling" topsides though 🤷♂️. I can only speak from my experience. Both technologies are great depending on the type of skating you'd like to do! Sorry for the RIDICULOUSLY long comment/essay on the practical uses of souls! 🤣🤣🤣

The more I think about angled souls the more I wonder. Are soul tricks on ledges a big issue for high level skaters? Because at the Angled souls price point little Timmy who is just starting to learn isn't spending a full skate price on just a soul plate.

Remz are my favourite soulplates (minus the royal groove) and I'm a ledge guy. Because of the angle on the juiced one there's less surface to grind on

Been dreaming of angled soles for decades. Not certain that this brand is going to nail it, but I hope to see more companies attempt similar designs.

Thrones had these juiced soulplates. They where vey fun. I like that people are trying new things, but I dont ever see myself trying angled souls. Mainly because of price. But also because so far, soulplates work great. Also, after a while my soulplates kinda develop a similar angle from abrasion and thats when I start slipping out.

I really loved the remz souls, i always found them THE best setup for curb skating, so im on the juiced souls team 😊 Nice vid to compare these 2 ideas!

I agree with you, that on rails they won’t be as good as traditional soul plates.
@pizzamanmep11 ай бұрын
disagreed, they would make you literally "locked" in these in my opinion. On ledges it would make you able to slide longer without getting wiped out of the ledge
@BoredForEverBiatch11 ай бұрын
Watch out for the angled ones with top souls, seems like it’s easier to slip right out of the lock on ledges

There is going to be so many different styles of sole plates available for the Omni. I’m going to design some like the Night sole plates. Just an angle 📐 at the front then straight across, and a square at the heel

I'm glad we are looking at mew tech to make things smarter and not harder. The general audience just wants to see progression and doesn't care about how hard we are making it for ourselves

Think part of the angled souls is that its also supposed to help with cess slides so more than just soul tricks 🤷♂️

I have absolutely no experience on either set up for my feet are too large to enjoy all the luxuries of the normal sized foot skater... 😅😢😅 but I'm excited to try one day soonish

I wonder if Juiced would trap the rail more creating more friction. It's such a slight juice that I don't think you will have issues on ledges or rails. I also have to say angled souls felt great on rails. And there were times where it did in fact correct me on the rail like you said. And the angle is supposed to be great for fatter rails too.

@jadrollervlog unless the rail is super skinny thn no it won't

I think I'll probably just stick with traditional soulplates. I have a similar theory as yours. Both excel on one and come up short on the other, while traditional souls do both decently well. I'm all about that middle ground. But only way to truly know is to test them, so I'll circle back to your findings once they arrive and you test them out.

The Razors SLs have a pretty significant "juice" angle on their soul plates, very noticeable if you have a pair in front of you. definitely steeper then the omnis. i don't really think it makes that much of a difference. in fact, i skate mesmers now, which have a regular soul plate, and i might even say i like mesmer souls more.
@pouringblue711 ай бұрын
@JustAnotherBlader that's cause the really good material of the mesmer soulplate. I dont think the angle or lack there of in the mesmer is a factor

What if you angled a juiced plate? Or juiced an angled plate? It would lock onto coping better and youd be able to sit on top of ledges and cess slides right?
@BodieMoto10 ай бұрын
my usd aeons might be bent because my soul plates are closer to the "juiced" angle than completely flat is that normal?

I prefer the Omni "juiced" system. Just skate hard and your souls will be angled and you can save $200 too 😆 which is more thn the Omni shell only which is a great price!

Just looked at my standard aeon 60 and the soul plate also looks kinda "juiced". Mabe 87° and not 90° between soul plate and frame. Any other aeon users can confirm?

I skated 5years on some skates and the souls wear off and now they just slide off instead of stalling so it would mean they will last way longer
@joshcontreras882110 ай бұрын
They should just make an angled juice plate
@pizzamanmep11 ай бұрын
Only thing with the juiced soulplates would be that I fear they would use themselves faster than normal soul plates since there is less overall grinding surface. The soul plates would feel super good at first but would get grinded (literally) into a normal soul plate pretty fast I think.
