Otodidak also has several excellent YT videos where he makes a variety of simple tools to assist in making these snell-knots on hook shanks. I suppose you could aslo use a whip-finisher tool for this purpose. For eyed hooks and swivels, I think the quickest, simplest, strongest knot is the Palomar Knot. (If he already included that in this video somewhere, I apologize!)

Seems to me the snell knot will just pull loose when pressure is applied. It usually goes thru the hook eye too?

Another excellent video from Otodidak! But may I suggest one tiny modification to the Uni Knot tied onto the reel arbor? Instead of tying the knot onto the 'standing' (non-working) end of the line @8:30, if you tie the same knot onto the loop instead (tie it upside-down basically), it will lie flat when you tighten it instead of making a big lump when you spool your line.

Too much resistance is created when in use at sea. Try supergluing line to a hook, leave it a week to cure first.

careful what countries you do this type of stuff in... Here in Australia you can get in a lot of trouble for using unregulated tackle, like using random bits of metal and rubbers which will pollute our water ways as they break down and leak chemicals. Pretty sure youre not allowed to have 2 floating hooks like that either, only gang hooks and there are rules in some cases on trawling with gang hooks as well i think. there is rules for using nets, rules for fishing from bridges, all sorts ay, I think most freshwater bodies its illegal to cast nets in Australia. We got in trouble for it as kids in the mary river, but we were only doing it to catch the telarpia invasives algae eater that rarely bites hooks

Никогда не вставляйте гвозди для ремонта удилища.Для этого можно подобрать ну хотя бы бамбуковую шпажку или подпорку для комнатных растений.Сейчас их великое множество в продаже. Ну а гвоздь это дополнительный груз и помеха балансировки всего удилища.

Not fussy about using a nail to repair the rod break. CREATES A HARD SPOT AT EITHER END OF THE NAIL, ULTIMATELY WILL BREAK. A better fix would be to use a section of solid or hollow rod blank sized to fit. Will allow the repair to flex. I have rods fixed like this still in use 20 years later. Any broken cheap rod I come across is saved to provide parts to fix more expensive broken rods
