Tried this rig on my first session of the new season. Really struggled with tangles. But - I wasn’t using the pva bag. I’ll persevere and give it another go with a bag 👍🏻 Did catch a couple of nice fish with it though 😄

You will find hooking a small PVA mesh bag on with stop 99% of tangles, and get you a bite quicker 👌

Is there a reason to use the fluro-carbon and then braid and not just braid for the complete hook length? Thanks :)

Fluro keeps the hook length stiff / straightened out while casting, the braid at the end gives it a natural movement, plus the putty helps the hook set in.

Alternatively, take an 18 inch long piece of braid with your chosen hook or hair rig on, go to the river, and catch twice as many barbel as you would using the rig in the video.

Hi John, the rig worked fairly well for Phil 👌 kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5XFinWNiLCnr6c

What's the benefit of adding the braided section as opposed to a fluro hooklink please?
@BarneyTrent6 ай бұрын
@@mattandsharks braid being more supple less resistance felt when taking the bait. I believe the Trent is quite rocky in places so braid kept to a minimum as fluorocarbon is much more abrasive resistant 👍🏼

Hahahahahaa.. Brilliant

@@BarneyTrent An alternative is to use a soft braid hair tied directly to the shank of a hook attached to fluorocarbon. Best of both worlds.
