Hello, very instructional video. One question: will a plastic stiff tube work as well as the carbon one? I have plenty if anti tangle pike stiff tube that I i could use. Thanks!

Glad you found the video helpful. The stiff anti-tangle tube will work fine 👌

@@AnglingDirectTV thank you for your answer, I'm going to give it a try. Can this rig be used with a bolt maggot feeder, or just with a running rig? Sorry for the many questions, I want to make sure that if I do catch an eel it's gonna be safe.

Another great video, Phil. I also fish a slider a lot when float fishing for tench. I also fish this method in quite shallow depths as it makes casting so much easier. No swishing a long float over head. A simple underhand swing will place your bait exactly where you want it and the float will cock over where the bait has landed. Phil, could you tell me a bit about the distance of your droppers on the hook length?

I was using an Advanta EVA luggage set. It can be used for tackle or bait. Makes the perfect bait station for a days float fishing 👌 www.anglingdirect.co.uk/advanta-eva-fishing-luggage-set?queryID=f06b255586469b5abb815c6c97dd75f3&objectID=104734&indexName=live_ad_uk_products Regards Phil,

The correct way to catch tench so well done. People's insistence on legering for species like tench and crucians baffles me. Nice work.
@AnglingDirectTV2 күн бұрын
Thank you ☺️ There's a time and a place for both approaches in my opinion, but if I can catch Tench and crucians on the float it's such an enjoyable method 👌 Regards Phil,

How long is the hook link on the 2nd venue? I've only just started Tench fishing and have been using the lift method. Everything I've read recommends using a very short 2" hooklink.
@AdamaFishing2 күн бұрын
Play around with the different lengths. You can buy the pre made ones like Kamasan 15cm and trim them down to suit. Sometimes a long one will work better than a short. I tend to start off longer and if I'm missing the bites or not connecting with the bites I shorten it. Tight Lines. 🎣
@AnglingDirectTV2 күн бұрын
Hi Grahame, The hook length when slider float fishing is normally around 18-24 inches. Having a small dropper shot 3-4inches from the hook helps improve presentation. I've filmed a separate video to help set up the slider float, I'll pop a link below ⬇️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2G0q2Wnf9BnnLM Hope this helps Regards Phil

Doesn’t the float stop move when passing through the rod rings?. I normally use line but find that it does cause the line to spiral when moving it.
@AnglingDirectTV2 күн бұрын
The float can sometimes slip when playing a fish meaning you may have to quickly re-plumb the depth. Using two small float stops together helps prevent this. Otherwise yes you can tie a stop knot rather than using a float stop.

Little tip: Use the float "string" stops from predator range fishing. These stringstops will go through the rings of your rod. So it is possible to fish deeper or further away 😁😇
@AnglingDirectTV2 күн бұрын
Those little float stops from Gardner pass through most rod rings fine. But yes a stop knot can be used if you're experiencing problems. Thank you for the tip Regards Phil,
