Krell: "Okay, rat snipers, I know you're great marksrodents, but I have a very important job for you..." Rats: "Snipe the dragon and rout the enemy right away, yes-yes?" Krell: "I need you... to run around in circles for as long as possible and distract the 20-foot crocodiles with rat-smushing axes!" Rats: *gulp*

This is such a satisfying and easy series to watch. The incremental upgrades/leveling gives all the units a little personality and stories of success/failure. It vaguely reminds me of one of the warband series from about two decades ago in White Dwarf, where I think the editor had a Chaos army and it started at 500 points. Then he added or changed units depending on how they performed in a series of battle reports, modding his general to be in a chariot or reflect getting wounded, till it culminated in a 2000 point battle where he ran down Volkmar.
@racsostrebor5 ай бұрын
That sounds incredible! I'd love to read that if you can remember which White Dwarves it might have been in
@MrEGTF5 ай бұрын
@@racsostrebor Having a quick little google, I believe it is Paul Sawyer's chaos warband. Can't easily find the free pdfs to check, but the last issue it seems it appeared was 285 (where he took the army to a tournament rather than a final thematic battle! Might have been the issue or two before it for that one). Not sure where it started but I think it was a monthly thing throughout that 2003 year, where they got £30 a month to expand their army. If you're not cheap (like me) you can easily go and check all the old issues on warhammer vault, as part of that "warhammer plus" subscription.

@@racsostrebor I tried replying to this already but it seems youtube ate my reply once I hit send, so if two messages come up I apologise! A quick google and it seems to be from Paul Sawyer's chaos warband series. It culminated in White Dwarf 285 (September 2003) with him going to a tournament, but there were numerous installments before then where he had £30 a month to expand the army from humble beginnings to 2000 points throughout 2003 (and maybe before). If you're not cheap (like me) you can go and read all the old issues from then on warhammer archive, which is a part of warhammer plus' subscription.

I do really like the dwarfs in this game the amount of times have gunlined things with muskets and cannons has been some of the most fun in this game.
@Ysehporp5 ай бұрын
Yeah its unfortunate that gunline is kinda just the best strategy by a mile and trivializes the whole game cause it's really fun for a while @.@ as a wood elf player its my natural instinct as well but I can only play so many campaigns where I lose less than 15 models... Been enjoying playing dead nations more and just forcing myself into lots of melee. The recent artillery nerfs have helped make gunline less auto win which helps too.

Love the White Dwarf battle report aesthetic. I'm surprised Tom forgets the elven C. Guard are a hybrid unit though, having spears and bows is the entire reason to recruit C. Guard.

The randomizer is true random, the problem is that real dice are not true random. Everyone rolls dice differently and tends to subconsciously learn how to roll them "well". An experienced enough dice player can pretty consistently roll what number they want based on how they hold their dice and how they roll them.

@mattlevens63825 ай бұрын
Sadly there is no other game like this at the moment, it seems Tom is enjoying the game (I also enjoy watching him play). I imagine the team behind this game is small with little funding, let’s hope the game grows so the developers can hire some artists. Personally I don’t have a problem with Tom playing this game tbh.
