I don't even think they were nerfed much in any update (mostly just bob-orb) and they are quite a bit worse on cruciball; they deal -15 damage and red bombs deal -50 and do more self damage. If you don't hit one of the increased base damage relics on higher cruciball they feel pretty meh to me.

@@TheMirksta Tom had almost all the tools to make this build work on max cruciball, though, honestly. All he was missing was the Axe and Oboe. (IIRC Oboe+Shock Orbsorber does still soak all or all bar 1 of the self damage from red bombs, either way making it manageable.) Both damage up relics and the gear leave every single bomb at 45 damage, they refresh, and there's a bunch of conversion of everything else into bombs (Which all explode in one hit, activating an area around them, causing a chain reaction.).

Minesweeper Boss: Is resistant to bomb damage, taking half damage from each one. Tom: Defeats it with a bomb build, almost exclusively using bomb damage, without even taking the Axe to bypass that resistance.

The RNG on this run needs to be examined just like they did for Dream

Well in a lot of games in particular roguelites its practice to tweak the RNG to give you better chances of getting new stuff that synergizes with what you have, if you seem to be going all in on bombs, the game will give you more bombs stuff

Yea bomb builds. Today I tried making a nice peg buff build. Worked out well. However I also picked up the relic that turns every 30 pegs into a bomb... and the squirrel. The last boss died through bombs first turn and my orb build meant nothing xD

The bombs on the last shot for the boss was rather silly, the damage increased by 84, so in about 3 seconds he chain reaction refreshed and pop 84 bombs... What the actual.

I wonder if Tom realises that relic that allows you to refresh bombs basically saved his life. I've done this build before without that relic, and if you end up with big Peglin as your final boss, it's pretty scuffed - you essentially delete all your pegs because they all turned into bombs and you can no longer do any damage.

I'm trying to do a good bulwark build. There are balls that create shields on pegs, and trinkets that ass bulwark when you create/destroy shield pegs, and one that does damage to enemies equal to your bulwark. There are also balls with damage that scales to your bulwark. Seems overpowered, but I've not been able to put it all together yet
