Domestic dogs simply have very powerful jaws for their size, where as domestic cats don't have the tools to kill most dogs. Luckily for cats, MOST dogs like to play and chase but not kill and will run away from a cat that fights back. The breeds that seem to have to top killing instinct (Husky, racing Grey Hounds and Jack Russell's in my experience) are all capable of killing the toughest tom cat in the world in a matter of seconds. Sadly, I've seen it too many times (once is too many!). My Rottweiler loved my cat, but he's long gone and his little buddy is now over 20 pounds. Now, wild cats (not feral cats) are a whole different story! Don't let your cat fight strange dogs - any one of them could potentially be the last!

RainDrxp tell that to my Jack russel😂 it turned a farm cat inside out before I could react. You’d have to jump to bobcats or bigger before a small dog is owned. Your feelings don’t change facts. I have a English coonhound and a female calico. Luckily They get along splendidly. It takes about 5 of these dogs to kill a lion. Imagine the mess it would make if my cat did something stupid and flipped his switch on. Coondogs and Jack Russells are cat killing machines.
