It appears that no reviewers actually said anything that wasn't in the game other than the building fires which does seem like a minor slip up because there are tons of games where fires/campfires are used in the same way that sleeping spots in Ancestors are used. It's like if I were to be reviewing Jedi Fallen Order and call the Meditation Points a Bonfire. It's really not a big deal. Also by reading the review, it is very clear that the reviewer did play the game. Seems like this developer is actually making comments about reviews he didn't read.

You as the player have to do that You know, Survive? Find a place to live, how teporary it may be, Build shelter, teach your community members where its needed, build a suitable place for them to live and such? I'm sorry If you can't figure out how a survival game works you maybe weren't the reviewer suitable for this game at all. That person clearly has no idea what he is talking about. When I tried enabling 2FA, I almost got locked out of my own account, because I wouldn't receive the authentication e-mails, and of course these idiots didn't set it up so that you need to use a 2FA e-mail code as confirmation when trying to enable 2FA so that you can verify that you can receive those mails at all. At the time their customer support team had a lot of trouble with a lot of people getting locked out too. After getting my account back I suggested them to implement the 1st time e-mail verification when enabling 2FA. The morons couldn't forward this basic idea their bosses at Epic themselves and told me to open a forum post instead on the massively flooded Fortnite forums (which I did, just so I can tell this 'joke' someday) where it would go unnoticed, so of course this basic security measure isn't implemented up to this day. Also maybe companies should hire a few more reviewers if they have to play so many different games in a week and have to rush out reviews which sometimes end up being bad due to lack of play time. small add onto...the fact that so many players had no clue how to make simple tools in this game shows the intelligence of some of these gamers.

They gave it a 7 "low score". We really are conditioned to think a 7 or lower is bad. They got fucking 64 out of 100, that's not even bad! It's just thanks to IGN and other similar dumps that have set 7 as the 0 mark. If if was a bad game (I've not played it LOL he'd hate that, even though I'm technically defending) then it would have gotten lower than 50. Not 50 itself but lower, because even 50 just means average, or ok. In school I'd be fucking happy to get a 50 / 100 on a maths test for example.

the market is a bit saturated right now, I don't have time for a game that is just cute when there are soulsborne games, resident evil 2, devil may cry 5, dwarf fortress and a bunch of online games out that more than satisfy all my gaming needs. Each one of such games have a strong point, but Ancestors doesn't seem to be interesting enough at any specific aspect. Doesn't seem to have any unique story. Doesn't seem to have any unique type of compelling gameplay. What this game have to offer? I have no idea. I don't even care. I don't have time to be checking up on any game that is launched out there. He didn't say what his product really was, he didn't market the game to show us what it is. What can you expect from a product like that?

In terms of professional reviews I would suggest not just looking at the end score to judge if it's worth buying but to find a trusted reviewer (in my case 'easy allies') and read or watch the full review. If you check a games opencritic score and you buy it solely on that you can't whine that you think the games crap because it's not the game for you. Do your research, don't be lazy and you shouldn't ever be disappointed. It comes down to being a responsible consumer.

I haven't read a game review in years. If I want to know about a game I watch a review, or more often a gameplay video.
@pierre63394 жыл бұрын
This is why I'm very picky about who review I'm watching. Most reviewers don't even do a good jobs of explaining the game. The core gameplay loop is usually ignored, if you are lucky might just glances over the deepest aspects of the game, and they will often ramble on praising or complaining about side features that you will hardly experience. Often times feeling as though they just went down the feature list that's advertised and are just knocking checks off a box.

I think part of the issue is devs of a game like this think reviewers should put in a couple hundred hours into the title before doing a review, which isn't reasonable. Meanwhile from the reviewers side, many likely playing for awhile, even a few hours and check out other reviews/stories about the game, and incorporate those into the review to make it seem like they played more than they really did, which is also wrong.

I've always said reviews are rushed, I've heard ppl on IGN say a game is 8-10 hours then I get it and see 25 hours ish and that's not because I'm shit Lol, it's because I take my time exploring and I read everything, speak to everyone until they repeat themselves to make sure I don't miss dialogue and stop to admire pretty graphics taking screenshots:) it's obvious to complete the game in the time the review said they must of just blazed through the main story to get the gist of it, we have to know as gamers these reviews are one persons view who hasn't been anywhere near as thorough as most of us will having paid £50-£60!
