Even within 15-20 years it’s gone down hill. I remember playing gigs around the country in the early 2000’s and Manchester was one of my favourite places to visit. I’d be skipping that now, then again; most big cities in the UK seem to have similar issues.

I lived there for the first 20 years of my life. Now I would not go back even to see the old places, which have probably all been pulled down anyway. The people who lived in West Gorton 50 years ago would all feel the same. Tragic when your roots are trashed like this.

Many decades ago we had mental institutions where people with mental health problems could be helped and cared for by trained nurses and psychiatrists.. Some bright spark in westminster decided it would be better to close all of these institutions and instead throw all these people onto our streets and call it "CARE IN THE COMMUNITY". Speaking as a full time working Tax Payer I would be more than happy to pay a little more tax and have those Institutions ... RE-OPENED.

This has really shocked me. I grew up in Manchester but left in 2003 and emigrated to Australia. This is the first glimpse i've had of Manchester city since i left and the place seems to be absolutely out of control! It wasn't like that back when i was living there. What the hell has happened? I was looking forward to a trip back there this year but now i'm not so sure.
