I use mine just on boss fights, use maybe 5k 2mm EC and I farm and trade for over 150k of those daily to sell in the converter for more valuable ammo to then sell and keep trading.

The Gauss minigun deserves the spot as it is the hardest to Aquire outside of a minerva sale. That being said, I still personally prefer the holy fire to both the Gauss mini and Gatling plasma due to spin up being annoying for me.

@xHARDCORE5150x I started back up on fo76 fresh account. Got 90hrs so far and I just hit friendly with the raiders. Still halfway through neutral woth foundation but thats because most options for quests I've been siding with raiders. It really depends what events you get. In the time I get to play If I do the dailies for raiders and get a moonshine jamboree event I can probably get close to 400rep for the day, but if the time I play I don't get a moonshine I can only get around 150. Also if I get lucky esme from whitespring will let me cook and I think it gives like 100 rep.

Gatling Plasma with Prime capacitor is great for closer range; no blinding and you can preserve your 2mm. The UC Cores are easy to farm by doing daily ops or expeditions as they’re awarded at the end.

the Assassin legendary armor effect reduces the self-damage from explosives btw, it makes a lot of sense for PA because the alternatives are things like Overeaters (your biggest threat when using explosive weaps is generally your own explosive damage)

I’ve got a old gauss minigun with bloodied and FFR in my stash because it consumes too many cartridges. Will have to keep this in mind. Gauss Minigun is probably my favorite heavy gun in 76. Gatling plasma does nice damage and it's fairly easy to 'feed' it, but it's got a *LOT* of recoil which makes it hard to keep on target, that with the slower projectile speed makes it especially tough to use against flying scorchbeasts. It also breaks scary fast, you literally have to repair it after every boss fight as by the end of the fight it's either broken or very nearly. Gatling laser on the other hand has minimal recoil, awesome range, projectile speed and accuracy, but doesn't do super great in the damage department. Gauss minigun kinda takes the best of both and makes an overall good gun, damage? check. dps? check. range? check. accuracy? check. recoil? manageable. Only real downsides are obtaining it in the first place is annoying and it's somewhat tough to keep fed. (something like Turtle's heavy sniper build does help tho, gauss rifle for general use to conserve and stockpile ammo, gauss minigun for tougher fights and bosses)

I'm sad to see the Holy Fire nerfed. That combined with the Plasma Caster was my go to build for both daily driver and boss slayer. But since the nerf I've gone back to using the Gatling Plasma and Cremator, it works great. I have a TS E Gauss Minigun that I'll put the AA mod on once I can find a vendor that sells one haha.

I actually wish that they would add more upgrades for the basic Minigun. I'd like to see a "Tri-Prime Barrel" which would literally just stack the effects of the two mods, as well as a better sight called something like a "Precision Relfex Sight" (which would look like a mix of a "Gunner Sight" and the "Reflex Circle" sight from the 10mm to increase sighted accuracy), and a "Muzzle Brake" with essentially exactly the same effects as on the LMG.

The 2 heavy guns which should be the most powerful is Gauss Mini and Plasma Caster. The grind of reputation or gold bullion should keep them powerful alone . Ammo is a problem with Gauss Mini they are heavy and get consumed fast.

For you new players that dont have tons of materials yet, dont even think of this weapon,it requires a huge amount of materials to craft ammo and it spends it all in a heartbeat,very expensive to maintain, Spending 3k ammp in 1 event or bossfight is not a problem

Lead and steel both easy to acquire. Go to any event, scrap all weapons with scrapper perk and you have a ton of steel. It’s one of the easiest ammo’s to craft.

That is the same Gause minigun build I've been using since day one it was released. Was it the best? Nah. But it was just effin fun to blast things. Two shot penta tesla lol. Sometimes, just playing the game to have fun and not be the best build with highest output gives you a better game play experiences. I still miss my quad explosive harpoon gun. Nothing was as fun as that thing.

You can get a drop or craft a QE harpoon we@p0n; it’s damage isnt as good and the range drop off makes more close range but the harpoon prints ammo for itself. I enjoyed your comment and hope you become re united with q e harpoon…

But the new He Man style shield in the game can block and deflect rounds and fires them back at the enemy. Meaning you can run around the wasteland with no weapons or ammo and the shield just shreds enemies with there own bullets 👍

Honestly gonna wait a few months to see what everyone mutually agrees are the best rolls with all the new changes so I can carefully craft and modify with the scarce modules and junk script items I have and can obtain. No point in crafting what I “think” is the best weapon or piece of armor just for a bunch of videos to come out completely disregarding my initial legendaries. I will at least definitely be going for an overeaters sentinel ap refresh or endurance set of union considering the new perks and such, them making it available again, and it being cheaper than it initially was in stamps to get rid of funky duds. As for heavy weapons i will definitely modify some of mine to have break slower as a third star and maybe the explosive effect depending on how well they perform I have to research further.

I believe some people are only testing gauss with the multi barrels. If you use standard barrel the accuracy and projectile speed make it better at longer range. While I like the Plasma mini, the spread and wind up make it pale in comparison to regular ballistic weapons. The gauss trades the instant fire for a long focus fire that will destroy clustered enemies. Or with the penta barrel it becomes a tag machine.

Farming is kindia tricky but I did find out an easier way to get more ammo by farming an ton of fuel ammo with the cremator on ops run or the expedition ones and trade it for points on the ammo converter. Or trade 5mm which you can farm a ton from the eviction notice event.hope this helps

At events though it will be like a rapid fire grenade launcher, it already was with the crit mod. Now it will be like it's critting every shot destroying mobs. It's likey you don't see it because you're testing on a single target enemy with high energy resitance, and the plasma I think uses some ballistic, which cuts through all enemies better

I'm gonna go ahead and add a little side note: If you wanna farm ammo in Daily Ops or expeditions, I highly recommend that you use a gauss rifle (depending on your build) with 50% VATS hit chance and 25% less VATS AP cost. Did that for a while before the update. Did it for about an hour and ended up with nearly 15k uktracite ammo

i've had the plans for a while but never tried it out. i only have the tri barrel plan for it and even without any legendaries it totally melted the scorchbeast i tested it on. i used Holy Fire for her minnions and after i cleared them switched to the minigun. it took me less than 30 seconds to destroy that monstrosity. truly exceptional weapon, and i think i'll be taking it into Scorched Earth next time it pops up.

I solo earle after the update now at 3.31 solo with a holy fire its a B5025 it used to do 57 seconds before the update! That gatling plazma looks fun i had the legacy aae90! 😁

Unfortunately is seems that weapons now do too much damage. You are lucky if you can get a shot in on the sheepsquatch because it takes about 2-3 seconds for it to be killed and the event is over in just a couple minutes at most. That's just one example. There is a lot of standing around for Eviction Notice cause the 3 star super mutants are taken down just as fast. I can't imagine this is what they intended and I'm sure there will be a lot more rebalancing going on again soon.

Seems like explosive damage from legendary effect is now split just like projectile damage instead of being doubled like before, seems like the fix they did for the interaction between energy weapons and explosive legendary also ended up affecting non energy weapons

Considering it was my go to even before the Milepost Zero update...feels good. But seriously people saying it was cheaper to make Plasma Cores was straight cap. Whilst yes you get 500 rounds per core. Not only does it eat through them at lightning speed yes even faster than the Gauss minigun. But the crafting was never cheap, in comparison. Hell if you spend some time just farming materials without fighting anything then scrap your junk. Then you could get literal thousands of rounds very easily with ammosmith and ammo factory. Same with the ultracite cartridges. Again i feel like i can't say it enough 2mm electromagnetic cartridges are cheap as hell. The downside is you don't get a lot. So to summarize Ammo factory + Ammosmith + Super Duper = Potentially a stupid amount of Ammo.

I got an aristocrats explosive breaks 50% slower as a drop from eviction notice, with my heavy build it's hitting crits 219-300, regular hits are 119-150

Been using a gauss mini for a while now but usually switch between it and foundations vengeance now with the extra explosive dmg I’ve scrapped vengeance and exclusively use the gauss mini and auto axe on my heavy build

Lucky for now. They removed its legendary effects for anyone who already had it. So use it fast as they will realize they forgot to remove it from the newly dropped as well and “fix” it probably next update. They take away fast fix problems slow.

I'm loving the mini gun and the 50 cal. Both with anti armor and fast fire. Both take down bosses very easy. Im not a big fan of laser guns. won't belong before they remove the explosive on that. I personally won't waste my time on guns like that because u know they will nerve it.

nah, for that rare distance sniping I would rather keep ultracite laser which would use same cores as armor. and in close range and event tagging plasma is still better. so for me personally gatling gauss have no spsce in my inventory even after that slight buff. IMO they need to buff gauss mini more, considering how expensive ammo is, heavy, bad contextual drops, it should do 50% more to be viable.

Agreed double shot now is now no longer a thing so ANTI armour or the old and boring BLOODIED is the only option - i think i will use this to solo the game especially vs the scorched beast to bring them down/target criple their wings using the vats optimised 3* legendary - but by your video it looks you can follow them even with free aim sight... a welcomed relief

Why is he running all the heavy guns perks maxxed out? This uses the explosive mod so the bonus doesn't apply does it? That's 9 points of perks wasted.

@HomerCrimson because....this is a heavy gun? And yes, the heavy gunner AND explosive perks apply. Just like the plasma caster with explosive rounds...heavy gun, science, AND explosive perks apply. Also, if I remember correctly, Holy Fire also benefits from heavy and explosive perks

This makes more sense now. Mini ammo is so expensive and hard to get, ultracite plasma cores are so easy to get.

The second one I random rolled after the update was B/Ex/100MS and I LOVE IT!! Want to try anti-armor on my full health character. My rng this update has been insane. Can craft Explosive for myself,WWR and anti-armor. Its been so nice, usually Im the one with 1k scrapped items and nothing good, but this time I got all the good stuffs.

I still believe 50 cal is king. As a full health it is hard to compare since of nerd and that one mutation. I still think the 50 cal has the edge on ammo efficiently.l as I can run daily or expeditions and come back with an ammo positive. It doesn’t have the highest dps but it has a very good ammo efficiency. Still crushes. 50 cal my beloved

I still prefer the Plasma Caster myself. I can hit between 900 - 1300 damage on a head shot, and kill super mutants in a single shot. It's by far the easiest heavy gun to keep ammunition for. I use the Gauss Minigun for some events and bosses, but my daily is still my Instigating Plasma Caster.

I've had someone else using one at earle twice now, I'm running bl00died 25ad holy fire and the gauss is definitely not doing anywhere near as much damage. I like the gauss, already have an aa, but it's not beating the holy fire with thd right legs

I have no problem with boosts to some weapons and effects. The problem I have is nerfs to existing sources of fun. Bethesda has done way less nerfs than some games, but I don't think it was warranted for Holy Fire. Just make other options more fun.
