It's the perfect review of this sword! I agree with everything the two of you said there. Very precise and concise! It's my absolute pleasure to have you guys review this wonderful Atrim sword. Looks like the ladies and gentlemen on this channel all had a great time handling it! I will have my version of its review coming later this year, and do lots of comparison with swords similar in various ways. I think your speculation about the comparison between this Atrim and the Principe is on point!

Having several Atrims myself can confirm for anyone out there wondering his swords are consistently the best handling swords out there today.

I still haven’t had a chance to cut with my Atrim type XVIII arming sword…so looks like I have something to do with my Saturday.

I can't imagine that will make you too terribly upset. Which version have you got? Thanks for watching!

@@UnsheathedSwordReviews I’m not sure which version it is actually, it never really said on Age of Chivalry when I found it. Honestly it looked good and was an impulse buy at the time.

Great job guys. I've wanted one of these since I saw Gus first post some pictures, and this review only solidified that desire. Sadly, Gus hasn't been to Combat Con for at least a few years, nor has he had a booth there (or SoCal Swordfight). He went to the Valley of the Sun event in January of this year. Probably the best way to handle some of his work is to go to one of the events Age of Chivalry attends, as Brady usually has some of his swords for sale.

Thanks! And it's a shame Gus doesn't make it out to events anymore. But attending an event AOC is at is a good call. You're right they usually always have some Atrims in stock.

Dang! I’m with you: I’m nice, but I’m not THAT nice. So, that or the Vision Ansbach? I might be able to swing $1500, but not $3k!

Vic here - Damn you for coming at us with the hard hitting questions 😂. That's a very VERY tough call. The Ansbach is based on the Atrim XVIa.1 I believe, so either way you're getting the handling characteristics of an Atrim. But Type XVIa and Type XVIIIb handle differently. The XVIIIb.16 is lighter and more agile. The Ansbach has more authority and is more imposing. They feel very different yet equally enjoyable. For me personally the Ansbach takes it in the looks department. The scent stopper pommel and details on the guard make the sword look very elegant. For my money the Ansbach is maybe the best looking Longsword on the market. I honestly think you would be more than happy with either. But for me personally the Ansbach gets the slight edge. Thanks for watching and the great question!

Jon here- I have to tell you, that's a damn tricky question. I honestly don't think you could go wrong either way. Being a Valiant Armory/Atrim collab, the leather work and fit and finish on the Ansbach are one step up in terms of refinement by design. It also has a more traditional construction, versus Angus Trim's proprietary nutted pommel. So if you are a stickler for those aspects , I'd go Ansbach. But I don't know that I've ever held a sword that felt better suited to do its job then this 18b. From a pure performance perspective, it's probably the best sword I've ever held. And I used to think that about the Ansbach. I don't know that you can go wrong either way, but if I had equal access to either of these sswords, I probably take the Gus Trim 18b.16. This is a really good question though. And I definitely had to think about it. Thanks for watching!

@@UnsheathedSwordReviews We all know that looks are half the equation, and I agree about the Ansbach. It hits all of my aesthetic favorites, such as a fuller, slightly upswept guard, scent-stopper pommel, and even oxblood leather. Man, so hard! I just want them all!

@@UnsheathedSwordReviews Drats! Hard questions! Of course, if I got either one I would have to invest in all the accessories for backyard cutting. Gah! Just give me them all!

The Tauber, being an XVIIIb as well, would be a better comparison. It’s the best handling longsword in my collection. Ansbach is still the best looking. Sonny’s son makes excellent scabbards too.
