Once Upon a Time in America is absolutely stunning, its the pinnacle of escapism for me. The shot with the Manhattan Bridge in the background is one of the most beautiful shots I've ever seen

This and Once Upon a Time in the West are absolutely ASTOUNDING visual works of cinema.

0:56 is my favorite shot from The Seventh Seal. Such a strong composition that really accentuates the conflict going on. Powerful stuff.

If you have some honorable mentions, how about Koyaanisqatsi and Baraka? We're so used to timelapses now (especially moving timelapses!) because even cell phones have that feature, and every TV show uses them for transitions, but it's very instructive to see what Ron Fricke was able to do when the technology was still not there so he had to create it himself.

Greatly appreciated, Angus Davies! I've started The Artist's Way and for my 'Artist's Dates' I will be returning or introducing myself to these generous films you've collected in this and your previous video. I also wish you the greatest value in your own cinematographical service for your teams and the audience members who will experience your richely influenced work. 🙏 #TheArtistsWay #AngusDavises #Beauty #Cinema #Life #Cinematography #Blessing #Vision #Service #Love

Black Narcissus is the best lit and best colour corrected in camera on set Technicolor film ever made. Peeping Tom made in wonderfully garish Eastmancolor is another fine example of Powell and Pressburger at their best before it all went belly up for them.

Subbed based on you replying to my comment (hehehe!) But seriously, both your videos and subject matter, i.e. the visual aspect of film-making is a niche that seems to me a bit lacking on this platform and your channel is a welcome addition. Hope your channel grows leaps and bounds.

What about a Wes Anderson? Or a Kubrick?

Check out the first video for Kubrick! I was split between films for Anderson so I've waiting until Part Three to introduce him

Hi Mate! I really love your work! something I’ve been wondering, how is it possible that you are using clips from movies without getting copyright streak?!
@AngusDaviesDP2 жыл бұрын
Hey, appreciate it! I've found that you have to keep the clips under 15 seconds and try to not play sound from said clip. I usually keep them at around 8 seconds to be safe, and I've only 2 videos claimed so far! I'm not saying that 15 seconds is the cut off for safety, but it's just been my experience.

The shot with the two women is Cries and Whispers, the one with the shadows is Tree of Life (: Wasn’t sure which shot you’re talking about since that time stamp is right at a transition between shots

Hello i really like you lists and channel. Another great list i just think you should include a Wes Anderson fim in your lists. He is a master in color use, framing and story telling. Grand budapest hotel maybe😂🤣

Can't watch due to the over-prominent background music (similar to the first part). I don't think it fits any purpose and on top of that, and that's only me, I simply cannot hear these over-used tunes anymore. I didn't make it over 50 seconds in. Sorry.
