Thank you for showing all the beautiful animals and birds and you are so knowledgeable when it comes to animals and I love how you talk to them and show them love and kindness I wish I could get over the stigma of auctions I just feel like they're cruel but everyone there seems friendly and kind but I worry about diseases being spread cuz you don't know like when you're talkin about the eggs the cleanliness of them and the environment they come from whether or not that puts Animals in Danger of getting diseases it's a different culture for sure I live in Oregon Northwest Oregon so I live right on the ocean and there's not many auctions and stuff around here obviously you can get some amazing animals I just don't understand how those animals don't spread diseases between each other when they're in those kennels like that but I appreciate your hard work and your dedication and your openness to love these animals and show auctions and things inspires me to look at things differently you are an absolutely beautiful woman with a beautiful heart and you love your animals and that's absolutely precious you are very very kind human being and I just wish you all the best luck
@RandomOkieFarms Жыл бұрын
We quarantine animals away from the rest of our animals after they come home from an auction. Because you are right there is diseases that can get spread. There is animals that come from the best lines there and sometimes chickens that come from poor conditions. I'm glad you are looking at auction with a more open mind Thank you for your kind words. Budgerigars are spectacular in the wild in Australia, when seen as flocks from thousands to tens of thousands. A green cloud flying, with few deviating colour birds included. The non standard colour makes them an easy target for predator birds or even on the ground for predators to single out. Also great is seeing the ground around a water source turned to a moving green carpet, on the generally reddish natural soils. Relatively easy to keep and a well known pet throughout the world. We once had two pairs, and over several years the flock needed several upgrades in space as we ended with over 40 birds. Unless careful they can also be wiped out quickly by various diseases. We also had Galahs, and Sulphur crested cockatoos. But somehow the women of our household had problems with these larger birds, as they were being bitten hard many times, drawing blood each time, while myself had them walk all over, and sit on the arm, or shoulder. Other men could handle them and not be bitten, at worst pinched. Women had to beware at all times. The budgies were at time free flying in the house, and while some sneaked out and were gone, others were homing returning by dark having flown free most of the day..
@RandomOkieFarms Жыл бұрын
That sounds amazing and an experience that might have to go on my bucket list. I didn’t know you could train parakeets to come back and forth
@helmuthschultes9243 Жыл бұрын
@@RandomOkieFarms The homing was NOT trained, it came as a surprise. Maybe because they had nested previously, I do not know why they came back by nightfall. The majority vanished if they got out. The larger ones like Galahs do kind of keep around a property. Had a friend that had a small flock, up to 15 birds, that lived free all the time, but at night went into an enclosure with food and water and a few nest boxes nailed to a fence. During the daytime they flew around the area. We do at times have wild Parakeets and Lorikeets around, and there have been at times various Cockatoos . I live in Melbourne and while not exactly best known for various such birds, the hills and mountains, with forests have many species as natural fauna. In my backyard garden I have a wild grown apple tree, small crab apples, probably someone threw a apple core there that grew. Each year as apples mature, I have Rainbow Lorikeets come and chew up the apples. These are beautiful colour full birds.. Somewhat shy it took me several years to actually catch some photos & video of them. Usually they fly off when someone enters the yard. Currently they come daily to feast on the apples. I sent some pictures to Mary Carl at Cog Hill 40 in a parcel last year. Other than various wild birds I presently do not have any pet birds, actually not since late 1980s.
