My wife has always disliked dairy. But when our small private butcher opened a high quality dairy section in his shop, it all changed. Raw forbidden liquid, high fat cottage cheese, 30 % fat sour cream and 35% fat cream - she loves it now and even takes a bottle of the naughty milk to work! Yay!

Yes the lectins and oxalates are so annoying. I love the idea of rotating through them alternate between different ones. Also there are ways of lessening the lectins and oxalates and phytates by soaking in acidulated ie lemon water, or pressure cooking, etc

I discovered a new flava flave for pork and chicken. Tajin, the powder, not the hot sauce. It's has chili peppers, salt, dehydrated lime juice and it is SOOO good. I learned it from The Carnivore Twins. They did a recipe for eggs and sardines using Tajin. I decided to try it because I still wasn't crazy about sardines and let me tell you, it was life changing. And now when I make a huge pork roast I don't get tired of it after the first couple of bowls. I still just need salt for beef, but pork and chicken get Tajin now. So far I haven't noticed any symptoms from it and I hope it stays that way because it has really upped my carnivore game.

Not giving any advice, just relating my vinegar experience. Back around 13 years ago there was some "no-poo" craze in some parts of the internet. My hair was oily hours after washing and it'd have some mild dandruff, so I gave it a shot. In theory the vinegar was combined with water and essential oils in a squeeze bottle, and washed out with baking soda. In reality, the vinegar never washed out and I'd go for my morning run and the sweat from my hair would go into my eyes and the last half of my run would be my eyes "running". Totally not crying. I threw away the vinegar and just kept washing with baking soda. My hair has not been oily since and I've lived in three different countries in varying climates. I haven't used shampoo in 13 years, with the exception of two or three occasions when I had dirty hair and no baking soda. I basically rinse with baking soda which has a weak lather once a week to do the full clean, and just scrub with water any other day. My hair has never felt finer and cleaner. You however have long lady hair, and I have short dude hair, which is a 50x less work.

Lillie! I’m with you on the dandruff! It is so frustrating! Like you I have tried many versions of this lifestyle; no dairy, no fruit, all beef, natural shampoo, no poo, nothing seemed to help. I finally gave in a couple weeks ago and went back to using head and shoulders. I would LOVE to not use head and shoulders because I know it has a lot of not good ingredients. I feel like it has to be related to something dietary or environmental. I hope you figure it out soon, and maybe I will too!

With dandruff, one key thing is immediately blowdrying scalp after hairwash, dont leave it to airdry. Some people never dry their scalp and walk around with wet scalp & hair. The scalp must be dried. Hairstylists provide this advice often

Is your dandruff greasy, or dry flakes? Many people think they have dandruff, and treat as such, but in turn exacerbate the problem. Dandruff is greasy flakes. Dry scalp (what many people have) is the opposite, and completely aggregates by dandruff treatments, which are meant to further dry the excess oil causing the greasy flakes. I used to work as a cosmetologist, and this happened to prove true over and over again. A good conditioner would rectify the problem within a couple weeks.

I find I can have low carb vegetables occasionally. But then I have them, and I think, "Oh, okay, that wasn't bad", so then I'll have them for several days and then symptoms start showing up. So I've got to make it just very occasionally. I haven't tried them all yet, and probably won't ever eat spinach again because it always made my teeth feel funny, which in hindsight I think was the oxalyates. So far I've had cabbage (fresh and fermented ... my store actually carries fermented cabbage now, it's a miracle!), avocados, a little asparagus, and sometimes onions. Two or three times I've tried higher carb vegetables like sweet potatoes and peas and even just one serving can bring back my skin issues and cravings. And the cravings can have me eating more of those, even with the issues, and several days of more of eating those I also get a return of mood issues. So unfortunately they're a no for me. I grew up eating a lot of starchy vegetables, corn and peas being my favorite, but no more for me.

Mix your apple cider hair rinse with a thyme nettle lavender and rosemary infusion basically tea, just infusion sounds fancy. Also don’t wash it out. You only want lto mix about 10ml of vinegar to 250mls of your infusion. Orr oil or tallow (want it soft) and rub on scalp the use a fine comb of nit comb, works for cradle cap so might help. By doing that once a month or couple times a year

@@bluejean-1968 so I imagined all three of my kids cradle cap going away after I used coconut oil and a fine comb on their heads, mine didn’t have full blown but cradle cap just patchy spots of it. I didn’t leave the oil on their heads, how stupid do you think I am. But the oil helps release it cause other wise I would have to put load of shampoo or conditioner on their scalp and risk it going in their eyes. I don’t know if you have kids, but once you’ve heard you’re two-year-old crying for 30 minutes because they got shampoo in their eye you don’t wish to repeat it. unless you would rather I torture my children and go at it on a dry scalp. Hey Lille! Have you ever tried doing hair oiling? Black Castor oil or even Beef Tallow melted is really good to use for a deep oiling once every week on your scalp . I would look into it if you have never tried it, it might help with your dandruff issue :) And I would recommend to actually not get your hair wet as much as you are. Your scalp might benefit from that as your hair is its weakest when it is wet and you may not be allowing your natural scalp oils to fully produce. I have found that shampooing twice a week has been a good balance for my scalp. On my weekly full hair treatment days, I massage a mix of oils into my scalp and hair ( let it sit for at least a couple hours), shampoo it with a natural-non stripping shampoo (shampoo twice on oiling days), then purify my scalp with an apple cider vinegar rinse (diluted with water for hair protection) and make sure to rinse it out, and then conditioner. Then after my hair is almost dry I apply a light leave-in conditioning oil on my ends of my hair. That was lengthy, but I really want to try to help a sister out!! I know how difficult it can be to navigate all this self care stuff. Anyways, hope you are having a blessed day whenever you read this💞

Lillie have you tried mixing cayenne pepper and acv and leaving it in your hair for a bit before you wash it? Works great for me both in terms of dandruff and keeping my hair nice thick and shiny. The pepper almost melts the dandruff off my scalp lol. Im a chili head (pun intended) so I add a bit of reaper powder in there for maximum benefit but I wouldn't recommend that if you're not used to that level of spice. If you are though it is certainly worth a shot! And if you try it, remember to rinse your hair on cold cause heat will activate the capsaicin more than you'd probably want.

@LillieKane You should try treating your scalp with a natural hot oil treatment each time you wash. Many ethnic groups use this method to promote scalp health. You can research it yourself. In india they use coconut oil to do their hot oil treatment. Personally prefer avocado oil use or olive oil. You place a little oil in a glass jar, then place that jar in a container of hot water to gently heat the oil. You apply the oil to your scalp with your fingertips and massage. You apply any extra oil to your hair and cover with a shower cap for 15mins before rinsing with cold water.

Oooo Lillie look at your naughty fridge... Bad girl. Nice selection of items. I thought you were Carnivore, but it seems like you aren't as dogmatic as some and still incorporate veggies and such. For me, the sourcing is the most important, which is something many on the keto/carnivore diets don't do. Where is your food coming from? If you don't know the farmer, you have no clue what has been done to the food. For example, "The Family Cow/ Your Family Farmer" is one of my select farms for buying foods, because they are very careful with their feed and practices. That's awesome you get to do a pickup there, because even though I do shipping to my home, the shipping is expensive, and in person is much better. I pay $15 a dozen for their eggs shipped, that are $8 in person. By the way, you should try to get the cheese loaf instead of the individual bars, it's cheaper! I get loaves from my local farm. I had purchased a 5 pack (30lbs) a few weeks ago, and now I'm down to my last 2 :( !!!!! I do about 1 5lb-loaf per week. The Family Cow mentions all sorts of great info on their newsletters, and one thing they say is that they never use chlorine/bleach on their chickens ot clean them, which it's practice in normal slaughterhouses to use such chemicals to clean down the animals before a water wash or something. It's not only how many poisons are sprayed on the land/crops/feed, but how it's processed afterwards. For example, you said you get Apples in Season, but is that from an Orchard or store? Store-bought apples are waxed usually with a petroleum wax, to "keep in freshness" and all sorts of bs. Try to get as much local produce as you can. I'm not really sure about frozen veggies/food. As for the Lectins and Oxalates and such, you are correct. Besides how you prepare the foods to remove such "anti-nutrients," if you aren't massively eating them, you'll be okay. Many of them are used to help remove excess minerals such as calcium, the problem comes when the body isn't removing it, but instead storing these bound molecules in joints and such, because the body isn't properly working and have the proper items to do it. I would assume sort sort of preservative or something is causing this binding on purpose, msg? sodium benzoate?

Hi Lili, I read that you've considered it could be a gut issue and it may be worth testing for a fungal or parasite infection as they can be the causes of dandruff. I'd point you to Doug Kauffman's work or Evan Brand's. Good luck!

Eggs - all commercially produced eggs are fed lectin containing grains. I gave them up and my condition improved even more. I'd like to find a way of feeding my own hens without grains.

Lillie - if you like ghee you *really* need to try making your own! It's incredibly easy and tastes soooo much better than the shop-bought stuff! Frankly, I think it tastes kinda fudgy ...

My fridge is only occupied by a few cuts of defrosting meat. My large upright freezer, on the other hand, is holding a half share of beef. Yum

I believe it! Yes I believe dandruff is a got problem. I actually think I have “stress psoriasis” more than I have true dandruff but it’s easier for me to try something other than working on lowering my stress 😅 I’m always trying to find more peace lol

I know you don’t do well with eggs for your scalp, but I heard washing your hair with eggs works very well. Shake them up in the jar and wash and use cold water, not hot water or else you’ll have scrambled eggs in your hair. Lol
