I heard this version before I ever heard the original version of the song. I just listened to the original song (by Neon Trees), and omg, the vibe is cheery and fast--the complete opposite of Chase Holfelder's version. I like them both, but Chase's version is perfect for this AU video. It's also nice seeing Castiel with a more dominant (and dark) personality here! Most fanfics and fan videos show him as more passive/submissive.

Moonlight Dragon -- I'm going to go ahead and have a shot at this, although SPNHoffen may tell me I'm full of it. But: Castiel is a vampire looking for a companion throughout a lonely eternity, spots Dean in a bar, and -- well, duh -- decides he'd be a great companion. He attacks Dean outside the bar, forces Dean to drink his blood, and presumably also drains and buries Dean. When he digs Dean up, Dean has become, to his horror, a vampire. He and Cas go to Lisa, presumably so that Dean can drain Lisa, but Dean's entirely too affectionate, more like he wants her as a companion as well. Cas barks "No," and Dean decides he doesn't want to kill the poor girl anyway and takes off. Leaving Cas with Lisa, and I think that does NOT end well for her. Dean's animalistic, vampire nature is driving him nuts, and he's refusing to drink blood, but he won't refuse -- well, duh -- to have intense sex with Castiel. Cas kills a couple of victims, Dean refuses to drink them, and Cas tries to get Dean to see that this is his nature now -- "Hush hush, we both can't fight it." And, well, mission accomplished: The next time we see Dean he's laying waste to whole households. Like I say, maybe I'm full of it, but I believe that's the story.
