Probably or 35 years ago, my grandmother told me I needed to stop eating all the white stuff -- flour, sugar, potatoes, etc.. Some co-workers were deeply involved in a 'T-zone' diet that eliminated fats, and I was counting points on WW, so I thought grandma was wrong. I sure wish she was still here so I could tell her she was right all along. And wouldn't be great if I had followed her advice back then and eliminated a couple of decades of obesity.

A reverse Diabetes 2 at age 69 going from 230 lb a lazy couch potato to a healthier 160 lbs but I realized I switched sugar cravings for carb cravings on the keto diet. I am no longer able to lose weight I feel like I'm at a stopping point and stuck so I'm beginning to try the carnivore diet but it will not be instantaneous. Could you please send me the link so that I can get recipes on what to eat and not to eat? My doctor doesn't know about the Carnivore Diet and so can't advise me but if I can get some guidance on how to get a recipe book or go to a website where I can find out the foods to eat and not eat this would be very helpful and a blessing. Thank you very much I have been following you doctor and can't wait to find what other exciting news you have to share for healthy living. Blessings to both of you!

Carnivore influencers should push the benefits of the mental aspect of the diet more, as the sugars and seed oils can do great inflammatory damage to the brain over time. Mental health has got much worse in general since we were told to eat low fat and high carb. Young people and older people in particular from eating a bad diet.

@Ketocrittle That is so so true! My mom did have us eating Keto-Dr Atkins a lot in the 70s and 80s. But when it wasn't that, it was LOW FAT. Entemann's low fat pastries. To the meat I bought eating low fat I would actually Press the heck out of it after cooking with PAPER TOWELS to try to remove any hint of fat. That REALLY messed up my brain. To everyone, the brain is fat, the brain needs REAL and GOOD fats. Omega 3s. For brain health please.

I’’m a visceral manipulation therapist. I see so many people for digestive problems, usually IBS, constipation and GERD. I would estimate that 90 percent of them are vegan or vegetarian, and other 10pct are either elderly or on meds that cause gastrointestinal.problems. Getting a vegetarian to give up the grains, fruits and fiber is like trying to get someone to change their politics or religion, but the ones that do, completely heal their problems. The artificial sweeteners work on your brain the same way sugar works on the brain…if you give it up you will lose the desire for sweets! Eat more animal fats to help with the cravings…you can do this!!!
@KingsDaughter19575 ай бұрын
It isn't just the brain: the taste of "sweet" on the tongue starts sending signals to the pancreas wrt to insulin - or something like that (I'm not a biologist so I may not have this 100%). I live in San Antonio and was proud that our University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio was responsible for a study that confirmed that artificial sweeteners can stall weight loss almost as badly as real sugar.

The Inuit Kelly mentions refers to a study in 1929 called 'The effects on Human beings of a twelve months' exclusive meat diet'. There were two participants. I was able to get a copy of this study from the CARNIVORE RABBI. The study was based on the Eskimos (also known as Inuit) living on a high protein diet and the careful study made of their health status. This was after an arctic explorer lived for 7 years on an exclusive meat diet and maintained excellent health. A copy of this study is available through the 'Carnivore Rabbi' if anyone is interested in reading it.

I've been carnivore for 22 weeks (since 25th Feb 2024) and my weight loss has pretty consistently been 3 weeks steady weight loss followed by 1 week plateaued, but so far never weight gain. Over this time period my waist measurement has dropped slowly, in fits and starts. Fractions of an inch at a time. This month my weight loss has seriously slowed down. Possibly because I have had a higher stress week, applying for a job, going for my first interview in nearly 20 years. This week I haven't lost any weight, but my waist measurement has dropped 2" in 1 week which is huge! Also for the first time in more than a decade I have been able to put my wedding and engagement rings back on! So I will take those 2 as "non scale wins" for this week.

Although the claim of no calorie restriction while following this way of eating I still control my calories simply because if I eat more than what I can burn I’m not going to lose even though I’m strictly following this diet. So perhaps recalculate your calorie consumption. There is huge calories in carnivore foods so maybe just have a look at the calories of your daily foods. Just a thought…wish you luck 😊
@NiceLoki4 ай бұрын
@@JD-gm1wq In the end I did look my food up, to calculate my TDEE. I'm finding it hard to be completely accurate, but I calculate that I'm eating in the region of between 1400 - 1800 calories a day depending on which database I use. I have a feeling that because I have lost such a large amount of weight (relatively for me) that I have lost the easy stuff, I now need to start consistently exercising (which I haven't done at all so far).

Wow. Kelly's childhood anxieties sound a lot like mine. I remember when I was about 6 or 7, my parents were in the process of replacing the window in my bedroom, and for a while the wall was all ripped apart and the old window was still there, right by my bed. I remember being anxious that the window would fall out in the middle of the night and crush me! Also, after watching endtimes movies at church, I was afraid to walk up the driveway in front of my parents at night because they might be raptured behind me. But I couldn't walk behind them either, because I was afraid of serial killers kidnapping me too (from TV), and my parents wouldn't see them coming if I was walking behind them! It's pretty exhausting living like that.

60s 70s and 80s people where not fat we might need to look at what changed in the food chain
@KingsDaughter19575 ай бұрын
Actually we WERE fat then - in fact, that's probably about the time obesity started becoming a national health problem. Here's my suggestions: more moms in the workplace, too often too tired to cook, so fast-food diets of French fries and hamburger buns, and don't forget the dessert to help assuage the guilt of not home-cooking very often and the fatigue that kept us from having the energy to play with the kids. PLUS when computers entered our homes, we added online "surfing" to TV Channel Surfing and the kids instead of being on bikes outside were "exercising" their thumbs with electronic games. It's a multitude of factors. But yes, America was fat in the decades you mention, which is one reason why Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution of low-carb eating was a best seller.
@crocodilegrundee45145 ай бұрын
In 1972 I believe it was, the FDA came out with the food pyramid. That’s about the time obesity started going through the roof. It’s not the only reason, but a big part of it!
@marciamakoviecki32955 ай бұрын
That's not true. I grew up in the 60s and 70s and there were plenty of chubby kids and fat adults. We were all drinking Coke, eating chips, donuts, Hostess cupcakes, Hamburger Helper. Those were the decades of processed foods, Wonder Bread McDonald's and Baskin Robbins.
@crocodilegrundee45145 ай бұрын
There were definitely fat people in the 1970s, however if you watch old film during the release of Star Wars when people were lined up around the block, there were FAR less than there are now. The food pyramid, which was released in about 1972 is part of what changed that. There were fat people then, but not anywhere near as many, and not nearly as obese.

I've been carnivore for 28 days and have lost 49 pounds. I feel great, so much energy, clearer thoughts, better sleep. The problem is I no longer like the taste of steak. I've resorted to chicken and bacon. I hate to abandon the program that is working so well and making me feel so good, but I literally gag thinking about steak. I've tried all different methods and cuts. Even the $100 steaks from my favorite steak houses don't taste good anymore. Need some help!

Oh, this is VERY common within the first several weeks of carnivore. It's called Meat Aversions, and many of us have been through it. But if you stay strong and just eat the animal products that you CAN tolerate for now (chicken wings? Omelettes? Pork belly?), then the aversions will likely pass in less than a week. if you give in and eat carbs, it will take much longer. But trust me: Your body WILL crave true nutrition again soon. Stay strong. ❤ -Kelly

I needed to lose 100 lbs, 50 in the first month is awesome. A few times I got hungry during the day and just ate 3 or 4 pieces of bacon. A couple of days I only ate 6 pieces of bacon and was filled up and no hunger pains.

I had been so frustrated over the past 7 years, in my 50's, on OZEMPIC made GI issues worse, daily pain, Mediterranean diet, ate lots of veggies, GI issues, GERD, acid reflex, skin issues, nails peeled, yeast overgrowth, sleep apea, fiber, and aids for eliminating GI system. The more veggies... the worse I felt, exercise caused even more pain. Needless to say, a friend told me to checkout MACROS. I did. I was scared to eat 2100 calories, that much protein and fat, but I focused and lowered carbs. I have lost over 11-inches and 4 lbs. since March 2024, but more importantly, no more GERD, skin issues almost gone, yeast issue disappeared, nails are stronger and no longer peel, I can exercise, NO MORE OZEMPIC, acid reflex gone, and pain is gone! I recently ate sugar and lower back pain came back. True believer, more meat, fat and low carb. works for me. I am HEALING. I hope in time the scale will reflect my lifestyle changes.
