You people are so awesome! Thanks so much for your impact and work! Gives me a lot of hope. I've reduced my animal produce consumption by a lot in the last few months!

On egg farms, chickens who eat eggs are culled to prevent the behavior being learned. 😑 But* broken shells are still sometimes added to feed as supplemental calcium because they “don’t know they’re eating it “.

Interesting. I expected more remastering of these, actually. Like checking vids or rearranging slides or updating stats. Though, I understand that would still take time and Maya is busy doing other things. Either way, very cool. I like the idea of revisiting these. Honestly, if you're trying to get Kayla to do more education, I kinda feel like the same topics: Kayla Edition (using the same slides as a basis but with her own research and context and style) would be kinda awesome. One thing I wonder about are the ethics of using overlooked pieces of factory farmed animals. On one hand, it's kinda like thrifting - yes, it's bad that the unsustainable practice happened in the first place, but if it's already been killed, then it's probably somewhat better if we do use it. I guess that's even along the lines of the "don't waste your food" idea. But on the other hand, it's still contributing to demand in some sense. Eh. As I've written this out, I've become more convinced that it's "ok". Though I don't know how practical it is. But for those of us not ready to switch off meat entirely or even just beef, perhaps we could offset that by buying the things that other people don't rather than the really in-demand items (like offal instead of steak). Again, not sure how practical that is... but it feels reasonable. Kinda.

Lab-grown meat may not be vegan, but … as a cruelty-free way to feed any obligate carnivores who may happen to live with us, it’s got loads of potential!! In other words: cats need to eat meat, or else they’ll die - this is what being an “obligate carnivore” means. And many of us would feel bereft without our kitty housemates, so … we just clench our jaws, and grind our teeth, and buy our little fanged housemates the cans of meat which they require, and we try not to think about the meat industry’s cruelty. BUT - a lab-grown, cruelty-free meat for our cats?? YES PLEASE!!! Sign me up the moment it’s available!!

i would like to know why you would say lab grown meat isn't vegan. from a small sample of flesh it's possible to reproduce that sample forever. the animal could not be aware that sample was taken from them and they could then go on and live a happy life in a sanctuary while their meat is getting reproduced long after they have died from old age. i see no issues in this process. it would be more vegan then a plant that was grown on a farm at that point.

@@DindonmaskerI agree. There's a point where it stops being an animal product and starts being the product of a machine. That sounds vegan as heck to me

47:45 What does this mean "(plant based nutrion) is not an option for *alot* of people" I want to see the peer reviewed and or meta-analysis studies for this. If we are talking about food intolerances, milk, gluten(so ie bread, pasta) and caffeine are by far the biggest intolerances. and statistically food intolerances is like up to 20% and the earth is still spinning with milk gluten and caffeine being consumed everywhere (why shouldnt it) but *alot* is a bias-catered suggestion... And after your prior quiz facts... this should be worded more carefully so people here dont gaslight themselves
@Ttangko_6 ай бұрын
also its cheaper to eat a plant based diet when properly educated not exclusively consuming premade convenience products
