In my channel Ashalatha Kothapalli Iam adding a new video on animal tissue. My video is based on a viewer’s doubt. Her doubt was whether the heart is made of cell or tissue? If tissue, what type of tissue is it?
I took an example of a house construction where brick is the basic unit of a building,in the same way our body’s basic unit is a cell. With bricks and cement we construct a room and different rooms for different purposes. In the same way cells together are tissue and different tissues are formed for different functions. Different organs are formed with different tissues. Organs which take part in the same function together are called organ systems.
We have different organ systems like digestive systems, circulatory system, respiratory system, excretory system, skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, reproductive system and endocrine system.
All these organ systems are made of different types of tissue. They are Epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscular tissue and nervous tissue.
Epithelial tissue are of four types, Squamous,Stratified, Cuboidal, Columnar tissue. This tissue covers the organs externally and internally, secretions and absorption.
Connective tissue connects different organs (Areolar tissue),protects body from cold (adipose tissue), gives strength and shape to the body (Skeletal tissue), protects bone edges (cartilage), connects bones ( ligaments), connects bone and muscles(tendons), transports and protects body from microbes (Blood).
Muscular tissue are of three types, Striated muscle tissue in arms, smooth muscles in digestive system, blood vessels and ureters, heart muscle tissue in heart which are Striated and involuntary muscles.
Nervous system is with neurons and glial cells. Neurons transmit information from the central nervous system to body parts and from body parts to the central nervous system. Glial cells are supportive cells. 90% of the brain is with glial cells.
So our body is with different types of tissue and conducts different functions.
