All animals can smell the adrenaline in your breath when you are scared and they can also hear your heart beat at all times so they know if you're calm, stressed, frightened etc. My blood pressure is off the charts. The amount of times a med professional has said its so high they can't even record a reading is phenomenal. Heart attack or stroke or both in my future, stuff happens. But my cat knows when im having a hypertensive attack and will come sit with me because she knows from passed episodes, her presence and stroking her fur helps lower my heart rate. Animals know far far more than we ever give them credit for. There is no such thing as a dumb animal. The only dumb animal I ever met walked on two legs. No duch thing as a bad animal only bad owner. Never confuse bad behaviour in animals with an abused animal either. Approach with caution and be kind, they very quickly realised your no threat 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Coffee is a vasodilator, it constricts the blood vessels and raises blood pressure. If your blood pressure is high, best stop drinking it. Hibiscus tea is delicious and can lower blood pressure. Well worth drinking in place of coffee. Good luck, and I hope these suggestions help.

I love that you talk to everyone while you work on a patient - the animal, their human, and US, your audience. It's such an educational process watching how you approach your work, diagnosing as you go, confirming with the pet owners and then working respectfully with your patients - often instructing how THEY can help their animals. Absolutely a pleasure to watch every time. Thank you!

Dr. Doug I have to say this video was amazing! I love how you talk to Stetson educating him and his own along with me the viewer. By showing the landmarks and what you are feeling, doing, and the why we see the abnormal movements and the movement after the adjustments. I am going to confess, I am a Orthopedic, Neuroscience RN, I have to say I have a totally new understanding of of why chiropractic care is so important and helpful when it comes to helping and realigning the spine and muscles. Thank you, I will not be so quick to roll my eyes when I see chiropractic treatment. You can teach an old dog new tricks!! I say the with upmost respect! Thank you again! ❤❤

It's unusual to see a Ridgeback of this quality in the US. Stetson is really built to work. He looks leaner, taller and more "square" when he stands than the average . I'll bet he has a stretchy lope when running. He certainly has the type you would want to copy...likely why he is intact. It says a lot that his person wanted to bring this valuable dog to you for help. Nice work as usual Dr. Doug. ✅

I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback until last April and she passed away at the age of 13. She was 27" tall and weighed 110 lbs. She was the best dog I had ever known. I am addicted to this breed and will eventually get another. They are not the breed for everyone. When puppies they love to chew on their people. All pups love to chew but Ridgebacks are the kings and queens of chewing. In fact, chewing is the number 1 thing new owners comment on. They were bred to work independently of humans and think their idea is the best and that is why people say they are stubborn. You have to get them to think your idea is better than theirs. They will not tolerate harsh treatment so positive training is recommended. They are also very intelligent and manipulative. The protection instinct is bred into them and do not require protection training, in fact, this could make them aggressive. A well socialized ridgeback knows the difference between good and bad and should not be aggressive. When I talked to people my dog did not know she would quietly put herself in between me and them. She also did that is a dog was moving too fast around me. They are not here to please us like a German shepherd or a lab. If you are thinking about getting one I suggest you go to a dog show or contact a good breeder to get to know this breed.

Once when I was outside playing with one of the ridgebacks I had growing up, my mom yelled my name so I turned around and when I did he bit my butt cheek. He didn’t hurt me, he just thought we were still playing 😂. He also loved to put the corner of a blanket between his paws and suck on it like a pacifier. I really miss that goofy boy.

Dr Willen, Stetson is a well behaved and beautiful dog, his mom Kim is nice as well. Your socks are cute, l like the socks and the shoes camera, by trying to help people and showing them how to stretch, Dr Doug ripped his pants and continued his work, who’d do that only Dr Doug cause he cares for his patients. You did an amazing and awesome 👏job on him and you’re absolutely right 100%, this work is usually a process and not a one day procedure , you’ll have to listen to your teacher and do your homework as well. Thank you 🙏for your kindness, giving the owner a mini adjustment, Stetson loves you and gave you lots of kisses, have a great 👍week doc.
