Wild and feral cats: Expert hunters, primal survivors. My cat: *Vomits after eating a cricket.*

My cat used to pull the back legs off crickets and then let them go. I was so confused when I kept finding these weird, black bugs. It wasn't until I realized that they only had four legs each that I understood that they were really crickets. That and finding the abandoned cricket legs on the basement floor.

Our thoroughly domestic cat employs a mind control technique of hunting. He will sit and stare at me, then look toward his dish until I give him food. When I take him for walks on his leash, he tries it with birds and squirrels, too. His disgust at my inability to catch birds and squirrels for him is depressingly obvious.

It's not an uncommon thought, I educate people on small cats at an AZA facility, we have 4 of these species, and almost every visitor comments on how some of them look like they're just house cats. Coincidentally, 2 of them *are* in the same Genus; Black Footed Cats and Sand Cats share the same Genus as House Cats, only separated by species! Thank you for highlighting the damage domestic cats can do! People often take it as a personal attack when I bring it up, like I'm criticizing them as a pet owner. I'm not! All I'm saying that keeping their cat indoors is a net positive for them, their cat's safety, and the environment. Cats are the single most invasive species on the planet; hopefully the more people figure that out the better things will get.
