Animals Learn to Take Their Own Medicine at Wildlife Park

No one likes taking medicine, but, like many of us, these animals have learned to grin and bear it. This bear even administers her own shot by pressing her body into the syringe held by a trainer. These health-conscious animals reside at Bearizona. Can you guess which state that’s in? It’s not just home to bears. In some cases, yes it actually helps with conservation efforts. In the case of wolves and brown bears, maybe not.

Those animals need large enclosures, they look like they live in confined spaces, they need more room to run around

I don't know anything about the place personally, but just looking at photos online it looks like these aren't their normal enclosures. Most zoos/aquariums will have smaller areas like this that the animals will have access to for privacy as well as for things that would just be generally easier in a small space, such as administering medications.

How do we get a job like this? I love animals so much! 💕 I wish I could be close with them and work with them everyday! And by saying this I don't mean cats and dogs and being a vet that takes care of house pets but I mean more like wildlife animals like the ones in the video.

That is any zoo though,they teach the animals that bad things don't have to be bad. Could you imagine if they had to put animals asleep just to take a pill or whatever simple things they need?

Not every zoo is like this actually! Sometimes animals will in fact be anesthetized for simple procedures just for the safety of the staff. Training the animal to actively participate in things like injections is incredibly helpful and should absolutely become the norm.
