Goodness dang it after all these years this scene still makes me cry. I never understood why Badger died since he was alive in all the books (even though the books made me cry just as hard when Toad died.) and then there was Hurkel, who, in all honesty, despite being amusing, seemed like a 'lighter and softer' replacement of ol' Badger. Truly a cartoon like none other. Today's cartoons seem all so tame in comparison.
@AyZeD6 жыл бұрын
That could be a reason they did it. To shock even watchers who read the books.
@Lasherluke5 жыл бұрын
My guess is that the reason they killed off badger was probably to add a sense of drama and realism to the series given how old Badger was. As for Hurkel, who is my least favorite character btw, he doesn't hold a candle to badger and in my opinion Shadow should of filled the void that badger left herself as she was similar to badger but different in a good way and wasn't a character who came out of nowhere.

Badger does not die in the books?

@@eleanorhogan8643 No he doesn't. But the funny thing is in the books he plays the role of Hurkel who replaces him in the tv series after he died. Also in the books, Shadow the female badger does not go to White Deer Park. Her role in the tv series in White Deer Park is played in the books by another female badger called Frond who is absent from the tv series and becomes Badger's friend who in the books makes it to the end.

Poor Badger... As a kid this scene made me cry, but now even harder. Badger was by far my favourite character... Wise, kind, mole's best friend... He shouldn't have died... Badger and Mole were two of the main characters, so they should've stayed alive... Well, it doesn't really matter when you already have tearjerkers like the pheasants and the hedgehogs... But still, Badger was a amazing... :'(

Why should the main characters stay alive? That's half of why this show is great is because it doesn't follow the happily ever after tropes. It's the realest shit you probably saw as a kid. Badger dying was sad as shit cause he kinda lost his mind and also forgot about moley, his best bud up until this point. It happens in life but, as shitty as it is, grand parents get old and some forget their friends and family, become delusional and die, that's what happened to poor ole badger. Honestly though badger was old and died as he fell asleep not even many humans are lucky enough to go out like that.
