One summer, a red cardinal would peck on my son’s bedroom window and wake him up. He would come into the living room and try to go back to sleep. The cardinal would come and start pecking on the living room window at him 😁

We are encroaching on wild animals territory. We need to leave water out at the edges of our property's. Food is still something they can find, most of the time. But water is harder

We feed our chickens protein meal, but more squirrels eat it than chickens. Those squirrels are little thieves, but they have it made with all of the comforts they get with food and water. It's a big party with all of these farm animals.

Why? They are more afraid of you and will not bring you any harm unless they feel threatened. Where my girlfriend lives the foxes, bears, turkeys, ducks, rabbits come around all the time. Once I as out pickingbsome herbs to use making dinner and turned around to see a bear sitting by a tree not even 10 feet away. I was startled but just said "hey bear, nice to meet you" and slowly backed up. After a few more encounters we just say hey and both go on our way. Where I live, I have a family of raccoons that turn up every day. They feast on my figs and lounge around on my patio furniture.

It's perfectly normal for mother deers to leave their babies in the grass while foraging or running away from predators. The babies are conditioned to stay put and wait, relying on their camouflage, so they will not show much fear towards humans. In most case the mother will return, but mother deer won't often approach if there are humans or dogs nearby. So, keep your distance and maybe check in on it in a few hours.
