OMG she is so cute. the way she walks and how hungrily she devoured the pear and carrot actually reminds me of a kitten I once took care of for a friend. her favorite thing was to try and lick at pears when I had them. She was born a runt and was unable to suckle from her mom so I bottle fed her. She was born to my friends litter but she had no experience with newborn animals, the mother was also rejecting her (taking her from the nesting area and leaving her in the hallway or downstairs) so I was over there a lot giving her warmth and cuddles while my friend was at work or with the other cats. A few weeks later we found someone to adopt her, and all three of us tried to think of a name, eventually she responded to 'Ariel' which I think is a very pretty name, it's my suggestion, because this little porcupine reminds me of that kitten.

I think she will be bigger in over all size (body, weight and size of quills). Though Kemosabe has a long tail that technically will make him longer. Kemosabe likes to spend most of his time in high places, but she will not.

She will actually likely also be longer than Kemosabe, in addition to being heavier and overall larger. African crested porcupines are the second largest mammal in the world, right behind capybaras. If you haven't seen it, there is at least one video out there of an adult defending itself against a pride of lions, very impressive and fun animals to work with! I was lucky enough to work with both an African and Indian crested porcupine.

My top choice would be... Trix (or Trixie)! It's a play off of her species's scientific name (Hystrix Cristata). Alternatively there's also.. Crista or Cristi? Other than that there are a lot of nice North African names, like Tasa (my favourite), Nada, Rania, or Hana? Or just call her Apple? She likes purée and there are human beings named Apple, so why not a porcupine?
