Make sure you give your Jessi a proper diet of artichokes, yams, and other hearty vegetables. They're really clever, so make sure they're enviroment is enriched by giving them lots of oppurtunities to learn. Jessis often get along with other animals, but not all other animals will want to be friends with them right away. Though don't be too concerned, Jessis are also known for their ability to communicate and socialize with all sorts of animals from all different phylums, and classes. :)

One of our traditional dishes is stuffed artichoke. Clean them well and open them up a bit. Stuff the space between the leaves with garlic and parsley. Steam them. Then serve with a drizzle of oil. The heart we then mash onto bruschetta and add capers and cherry tomatoes. You could also stew them in caponata. I love them so...

I'm an Elementary After School teacher who's starting a class about animals. My students and I are so excited and can't wait to use your videos as a great starting point when learning about animals both in our homes and ones we don't get to see! as a fairly long time subscriber I can't wait to introduce all my students to your animals and see them fall in love like I did! But they want to save the world and every animal in it. any good pointers for starting by helping animals in our back yards?

Searching4Sophia wow that's so sweet! I would have loved to have a class like that when I was in elementary. I think that bird feeders are really cool because they fill your backyard with so many beautiful birds and you can hear their singing. I also used to make insect houses out of old shoe boxes and put vegetable scraps inside. I would also decorate them (which didn't help the animals but made it more fun for me). It's really cool to check every day and see what all has been eaten and to see if you can spot a bug inside. I also used to collect snails after rainstorms and put them in grass because people will step on them. Good luck with your program, I hope it goes well:)

Snuggling is a different matter since most parrot type birds don't like that kind of interaction, it's just a personality thing and you can gently keep trying and hope they eventually learn to see it a non threatening and even learn to enjoy it.

coughdrop01 We choose to feed a base diet of high quality dog kibble with fresh produce and whole prey items as add ons. As long as the dog has healthy organs, including their skin, and they're active and happy, then I'm pretty low key about what exactly to feed a dog. There are so many great options which makes finding a good one that works for your family more open, than say a good diet for sugar gliders or hedgehogs.

dj molano Lots and lots of research. They need a large screen enclosure set up in a low traffic zone with high humidity, uvb lighting and heat, moving water, live gut loaded insects to eat. If they're female they need calcium and a nesting area for if/when they lay eggs. Living plants are best for them to perch and climb on, but make sure the soil has no chemicals and the plant hasn't been sprayed with anything toxic. Good luck!

Jessie I just got my bird two days ago I've been letting it get use to me.I tried opening up the cage and letting him come out on his own and then I would give him a treat. But it's not working how I want it to. He comes out and sits on the door so I say good boy and try to give him a treat via spoon so he puts his head feather all the way up and backs up and away into the cage. So Ill leave him alone for a little bit but I still leave the door open so he can still come out again and try over.But sometimes he will come out and fly away and then I take a long perch try to have him step up and he does but he's also a little scared but I want to reward him for still coming out he will eat the treat of the spoon.I say good boy and try to put him back and give him a treat to let him know it's good inside the cage but he won't take the treat so I back off. my question is how do you make him less scared for coming out and in and how can I give him the treat inside the cage. Btw my cage bars are small so I can't fit a spoon in between and feed him from the outside. Can you help me thank you
@animalwondersmontana7 жыл бұрын
AirsoftUnboxing show If he's scared of taking a treat, there are other ways to reward him. At this point giving him space is a good way to make him feel good, so use that. By repeatedly letting him see that you're not going to be pushy and you'll be sensitive to his communications that he doesn't want you too close, he's going to learn to trust that you're listening to him. This is the first step in creating a trust bond. I'd also hold off on taking him in and out of his cage a bunch of times until he's more comfortable with you just being around him. If he doesn't like the spoon, just set the treat on a ledge, bar, or perch and back up a bit to let him come and get it. Do this repeatedly over a few weeks until he learns you bring good things and you're not scary. It sounds like he's going to trade awhile to settle in and trust you, don't worry, the slower you go the stronger you can build your relationship up from the roots. Also, great that he steps up onto a stick. You can combine occasional trips out with the above plan, but use going back to his home and you giving him space a his reward. You can also put a treat in his bowl for him to go get once he's home, but if he does go get the treat right away make sure you stay in the room and praise him from a distance while he eats it. You want him to associate you with good feelings.

I've had my Rainbow lorikeet for seven years now. She is my first bird and I probably made every mistake possible with her. today though we are so close she could be sitting on my shoulder where I can't see her and lean her weight towards her cage. I instantly know she wants to have time alone. Through out the years she has constantly laid eggs. I do my best to avoid stimulating her and let her sit on her eggs for a while until she becomes bored. I worry about how much stress the constant laying is having on her. My question is this; Is there away to minimise the amount of time she's nesting and laying eggs? And how much will leaving, or removing the eggs stress her out?
@dee-annegordon59597 жыл бұрын
Byvenic I know with budgies and cockatiels the advice usually is to limit their day light hours, frequently re-arrange their cage and to not provide either a nest box or any toy that could be viewed as a nest (ie coconut huts, etc).

I'm a new subscriber, and one thing I've noticed when watching your videos is that the ad that plays beforehand is usually for a company that is either not very environmentally-friendly, or isn't very animal-friendly. Does it make you upset or frustrated knowing that money that is used to support you and your company has a frustrating background? (It really bugs me that I have to watch an ad for a makeup brand that I KNOW isn't cruelty-free right before learning about and appreciating animals.)

Thanks for thinking about this issue and bringing it up.

Sofia Antonia Birds do groom a lot. Could also be boredom, a skin condition (see a vet) or nerves. Does she bath or are you misting her?

+Dee-Anne Gordon Thank You!! yeah she sometimes jumps into a small bowl of water and she loves splashing around, probably about once or twice a week
@dee-annegordon59597 жыл бұрын
Then I'd suggest some new toys (chew/shreddable) to keep her busy. I'm assuming she's not currently molting (that's itchy business after all), so if you're still concerned with the amount of grooming, take her to an avian vet to rule out possible skin conditions. If she is molting then perhaps give it a bit of time first, then reassess once the molt is finished. I'd also steer clear of lice sprays unless adviced to use one by the vet.
