I just realized it must be difficult to showcase reptiles in Montana. It's cold, not a huge population to get tons of traffic to etc. Thank goodness for KZbin! Now Jessi can educate children and adults anywhere in the world.

The chinchillas want the pack of willow(?) sticks because only a few kinds of wood are safe for them while I bet beavers can chew larger size and a wider variety of wood sticks and branches.

Loved seeing all the gifts for the animals. I received a gift from your animals this year (with a little human help :P) and from Kemosabe in particular. :D I received the triple quill pair of earrings for Christmas and it was the only thing on my wish list so I must have been good this year. ;) - Heidi

So sad now to find you don't ship to Western Australia 😞
@animalwondersmontana4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, Australia won't allow any kind of animal material (like reptile sheds, feathers, or quills) to be shipped in. However, I am thankful they are thoughtful about protecting the unjquie environment and ecosystems. If you're interested, we do have some merch that can be shipped to Australia like our shirts, Kemosabe mugs, stickers, and posters, which you can find in our Animal Shop 🙂

Those are awesome gifts but if your animals are anything like my cat and conure they are more interested in the box/packaging rather then the actual toy. No joke, I have crates of expensive bird toys of all different types that he won't touch, but if he sees UPS, USPS or Fedex he gets excited because he gets a new box. He also goes nuts over empty 5Hour Energy bottles.

You seem to be confused, its the other way around. The parrot goes on the shoulder and the lizard goes on the branch, but seriously you named your shoulder lizard Loki which is my conure's name.

Hi Animal Wonders! I must ask - why is Chongo clipped :(?
@animalwondersmontana4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. We don't clip Chongo's feathers at all. When he came to live at Animal Wonders it looked like his wing feathers had been trimmed to close to the follicles, but we hoped he'd grow his fight feathers back after his next molt. Unfortunately, his feathers never grew in which tells us that the trauma he went through under the care of his original humans was so severe that it damaged the follicles of his main flight feathers and he'll never get thosefeathers back. He also has nerve damaged in his feet due to improper perching and he sometimes has trouble perching and balancing well. We've worked with Chongo extensively to help him gain confidence being handled and comfortable in in new spaces and, while it's gone slowly, he's come a long way and we're very proud of how brave he is.
@kenzers-4 жыл бұрын
@@animalwondersmontana Wow that's crazy and unfortunate about his situation. I'm glad he's been taken care of by you all! I see that he has un-moulted clipped feathers and I've heard from an avian vet that sometimes the clipped feathers don't have enough weight of them to fall out on their own. Perhaps that is possible? (I say this, assuming he HAS clipped feathers which I believe I saw in your video). Are you going to consider going the imping route? I saw you in BirdTricks video (got so excited lol!).

What happened to Joy? It looks like some of her feathers got plucked out.
@animalwondersmontana4 жыл бұрын
Joy plucks her feathers off and on and has since we've known her. She's has extensive trauma from past experiences with previous owners which often leads macaws to over grooming their feathers as a coping mechanism to deal with all the stress. Unfortunately, once they start to pluck it becomes a habit that they rarely stop doing even when they are no longer in a stressful situation. Joy can go long periods of time without plucking, and then we'll find her bare chested one morning. It's a sad thing to see because it reminds us of the terrible things she's gone through, but we're also reminded that she's safe now and that makes us grateful ❤

I noticed you're wearing a mask when interacting with the animals and not presenting, is that for covid protection? I would have thought you don't need it when you're with animals. Thanks for another great video!
@animalwondersmontana4 жыл бұрын
Good question. The mask was needed because I was in the same indoor space as other human animal keepers when distributing the goods (the only animals we're concerned about spreading the virus to are primates, cats, and weasels + possibly skunk). Usually we try to stagger our time in the same space as other keepers, especially when filming and we have our masks off. Since I wasn't going to be talking to the camera, it wasn't necessary to schedule the extra time for others to vacate the main spaces. It's been a weird and challenging time at AW especially now that the cold weather limits our ability to ventilate the air as much as we'd like to. Thanks for asking 🙂
