To be fair, I think this happens both ways. There's also examples of terribly written gay relationships. I agree with what Flufux said. A writer should always make sure to write a good character, without having their sexuality in mind, cause that shouldn't be the only defining trait of a character. Just write a good character first and eventually the rest will come naturally. I'm working on a game that represents both a lesbian and a straight couple and IMO they both work wonderfully, cause I spent time actually writing proper characters first and the characters themselves practically told me what they wanted ^^

Its because when a romance isn’t forced but actually built up with strong writing, good acting, & genuine rapport, its better. Not all straight romances are bad but SOOO many are uncessary. And I say this as a straight man who has watched so much over my life. For every Rick and Evie from The Mummy - a damn great romance - you get a hundred more unecessarily paired up male and female lead characters or side characters. Its done so much that movies get praise for not automatically pairing up a male and female lead. And also to this videos point, so many past stories wouldve been more enjoyable had the leads been a LGBT couple / couldve easily been.

The SheRa kiss gets me. Every. Single. Time. I remember watching it with my wife and we were like "Wait... Wait are they gonna- OH MY GOD!" It's a bit hard to put into words how good it feels to have love like mine just... Be there. And portrayed as beautiful. I love how that whole scene played out. How they both knew in the moment, but Blake still had some subconscious fear about it due to her experience with Adam, which is why she wanted Yang to say it first. But as soon as Yang started saying it, Blake didn't even wait for her to finish talking to say it back. A lot of people don't give the RWBY writers enough credit, these little moments show they really know how to write their characters and keep their personalities consistent and believable.

Yes to so many of these. - BB stands at the top cause I've been following and loving RWBY for going on 10 years loving the slowburn romance - Bubbline is definitely in the camp of I'm glad to have caught it when it was catching steam, thus missing the homophobic shoving either of them towards a male interest - Catradora are stressful just cause of the gayngst xD - Sammy/Yaz are the newest and if being honest wasn't sure they'd actually do it; but they did - Harlivy are my more wild (in terms of sexuality and humor styling) fav; the V-day special ending hit me right in the feels. - Benson and Troy are cute, though Kipo is such an under-known series - I still need to catch up on Dragon Prince to fully enjoy Amaya/Janai (and the others too probably, but these are the two I've seen clips of and the chemistry of) but they are def cute.

Still, even in works I otherwise like or even love, I hate the Bury Your Gays trope to the point that I never want to see an LGBTQ+ character killed off in a work of fiction again. Honestly I'd have it globally criminalised if I could.

As someone who has barely seen the Owl House I can tell you that animation got me choked up. The writing and delivery of the lines is so cute and wholesome and perfectly encapsulates the awkwardness of the moment after the first kiss. That's top their right there, it's subtle but powerful. But for me She-ra takes the rainbow cake and eats it because one I have the context but two it's just so damn good how they built this scene. The words are so simple but they carry so much weight to them that the series has been building up to. Wich I imagine you could say is the same for the Owl House (when I get there I'll probably feel the same).

I loved all these moments and kisses. As a bisexual male, it’s so amazing seeing more and more MLM couples every day it’s so validating to me, and it makes me feel wonderfully seen. But I’m also ecstatic about seeing WLW and sapphic romances, and how they have also flourished in media. Watching She-Ra was truly a joy, and it was a great show. The Catradora scene at the end of the series was so worth it, and it was a fun journey all the way until the end. But out of all of these shows, nearly all of the anime I have watched, nearly all of the movies I’ve seen… Hardly anything even begins to hold a candle to RWBY, and how it has shaped me, how it has helped me be better, how it has inspired me to keep going. I have been watching RWBY ever since I saw the death battle involving Yang Xiao Long and Tifa, back in 2015, during the release of Volume 3. I thought Yang Xiao Long was such a fucking badass character. Her powers, her fighting style. Her loud and brash personality was funny as hell. She was a incredible character, and I hadn’t even seen the franchise she belonged to. So I made the decision to check the show out for myself. The moment I pressed play on Volume 1, Episode 1, I was immediately sold. The weapons, the lore, the character designs, the characters themselves. It was all perfect. Volume 1, Episode 1 and Volume 1, Episode 2 introduced a ton of characters. From the energetic, nerdy and weapons-obsessed Ruby Rose, to the dorky mess of a faker (completely non derogatory) Jaune Arc, to the calm and collected Ozpin. There are so many characters that I loved right off the bat that I would be here forever if I listed them all. Yang Xiao Long, of course, was at this time, my favorite character and remains my favorite to this day. She was everything the Death Battle put her up to be. A gigantic goofball. It wasn’t until a ways until episode 2, however, that I first saw my second favorite character in the series, Blake Belladonna. I hadn’t watched the trailers before I hopped into the show, (I rectified my mistake later, I highly regret my oversight), so when I saw Blake Belladonna, she immediately caught my attention. She had a very different design from the rest of everyone, and she gave off a mysterious and positive vibe that kept me continually interested in her. When Yang and Blake first interacted with eachother, I paused the episode, and said aloud to myself, “Yang and Blake are totally going to be a couple. And I am all here for it.” And I shipped them together ever since. As I continued to watch RWBY, my love for the show grew exponentially. Every episode i saw was better than the last. Yang and Blake were both fantastic, fascinating and multi-leveled characters, that I personally look up to. The dynamic and chemistry between Yang and Blake never faltered, never wavered. It always caught my attention, and I was always cheering for Bumbleby, the ship, the duo, and the bike (LOL), and then everyone else. (I love everyone in the show dw 😂) As I may have mentioned earlier, RWBY helped me throughout the absolute worst portions of my life. It, and two other franchises, helped drag me out of my depression more times than I can possibly count. Bumbleby was one of the things in RWBY that helped me the most, besides the characters themselves, the awesome story and the epic fight scenes. So you can imagine how I feel about volume 9 (A fucking incredible volume) and especially the moment where Yang and Blake finally confessed their love for eachother, and then proceed to embrace eachother in a tear-jerkingly magnificent kiss. I couldn’t stop myself from crying. Multiple times. That’s how much that perfect moment meant to me. That’s how much RWBY means to me.

I honestly respect Rubi for how long it took to get Blake and Yang to come together, they didn’t rush and they didn’t cave into fan pressure, they took their time which led to a much more satisfying and adorable scene. Now, please give us an ending to this awesome series!
