I do agree with you on almost everything. Live action has been quite disappointing apart from the Andor series. The world feels massive with incredible effects and acting and the story. I've always preferred animation however Andor might be my favourite Star Wars series.

thx for not hating on me not bringing up andor. Andor is a very well written show, with a lot of depth, just was not for me. Thx for watching

The primary reason I think the animated shows are carrying the flag for Star Wars, which most of your complaints fall under, is that no matter what percentage of the audience is made up of neckbeards, they are still obligated to make the show for children. The "adult animation" trend has thankfully not caught on at Lucasfilm (yet), but they have also enjoyed the freedom to make use of "adult" content such as death - something I'm told Filoni had to initially fight for on Rebels. The young target audience means that no matter what, the goals are constantly to be quick and to the point, to be engaging and fun, to stimulate their curiosity by way of fantasy, and to deliver valuable moral lessons. When these things are all done by a skilled hand and a wise mind, it will have the same effect on adults who tune in - because they respond to these things just as much as children - and it will become something that connects parent and child, and "not merely a children's story". In other words, it'll become Star Wars. All these things are what Lucas' Star Wars is designed to be, whereas Disney's live action series largely aren't: Stories much smaller in scope than a single Star Wars film are drawn out across an entire season of TV with hour-long episodes; They tend to take far too jaded a tone to be consistently entertaining; They are genuinely capable of stimulating curiosity when they take advantage of Star Wars' innate fantastical mystery and adventure, such as the best parts of The Mandalorian, but these moments are few and far between. Perhaps worst of all, many of them fail to be credible moral tales, or make no attempt to do anything interesting in the first place, while others still, in an attempt to be interesting, are far too morally arbitrary to deliver anything of concrete value. There are many other problems with Lucasfilm's live-action output, including production quality as you mention, but to me this is the make-or-break issue. Tolkien wrote this about fairy tales: "Let us not divide the human race into Eloi and Morlocks: pretty children - ‘elves’ as the eighteenth century often idiotically called them - with their fairy-tales (carefully pruned), and dark Morlocks tending their machines. If fairy-story as a kind is worth reading at all it is worthy to be written for and read by adults." In other words, if the trend Tolkien describes continues for Star Wars, the target demographic limbo that made the property so successful in the first place and currently allows these animated shows to exist will be lost, and all future shows and films will become either watered-down "mere entertainment" or the "gritty realism" of Andor forever. Lucas sold to Disney precisely because they used to be one of the few companies in his industry whose works did not succumb to that distinction.

I personally find Andor to be the main outlier among the live-action shows when it comes to quality, primarily because it involved a completely different creative team. I also think it's important to note that the success of the animated shows is not solely thanks to Dave Filoni - He only has co-writing credits on one episode of The Bad Batch and a few episodes of Clone Wars and Rebels. Although it says "created by Dave Filoni" that's the equivalent of the sequels saying "based on Star Wars created by George Lucas" in the credits. The extent of his involvement in Bad Batch was most likely giving Jennifer Corbett and the writers the go ahead to make the show - the reason it turned out so good is due to his minimal involvement, because to put it simply, he's a bad writer. The Ahsoka series was written entirely by him, and we all saw how that turned out - to be fair he was responsible for writing some of the best storylines in Clone Wars and Rebels (for example the Siege of Mandalore and the rebels finale arc) but back then I think he cared more about the artistic integrity of his work, nowadays he has too much control and can do whatever he wants regardless of the quality of what he produces. I do agree with the sentiment that animation allows for more freedom in creative expression, especially when it comes to different alien species or environments. However, when it comes to the comparison between live-action and animation I don't believe one medium is intrinsically better than the other, it all depends on the passion of the people involved and if they care about the quality of their work and the story they are trying to tell - The Bad Batch is one of my favourite Star Wars projects for this reason, the passion from the people working on it is clear as day and shows through in the finished product. Anyways, sorry for the long-winded comment - I just found your video fascinating and think this is a great topic of discussion!

Not even mentioning Andor as if it doesn't exist and claiming that all live action shows are bad, while a lot of people praise it to be the best Star Wars show in a long time, is pretty cringe.

just cause a lot of people praise something doesn’t mean u have to like it. keep following the crowd

@@StarWarsDiscovered and hating on it does not make it bad either. Not liking it for personal reasons? Fine. Not even mentioning it and/or calling it objectively bad, which it is not, is just childish at this point. Keep following your own crowd I guess? Don't fool yourself thinking that contrarian opinion is original.

I’ve not seen Andor, but even if what everyone has said about it is true, that’s just one show out of the many they have pumped out. Therefore, it is negligible in this argument.

Clone Wars Season 7 (except for the Martez Sisters arc), Bad Batch, and Rebels (despite its numerous flaws) have been some of my favorite Star Wars shows, whereas I can only say the Mandalorian equalled that hype for live action. And that is no longer true, seeing S3. Tales of the Jedi is a bit overhyped, as I thought most of it was unnecessary, except for Yaddle vs. Dooku and Anakin teaching Ahsoka how to fight against the clones.
