First off I love your videos. Not only do they teach me a lot but after I watch the I go and experiment. I did this after this video. I made the same effect by adding one title but by placing a white rectangle under a green rectangle that was just a few clicks smaller. I put my text on top. Then I saved the title as a preset. Last I overlaid the title over a video and chroma keyed out the green. This left a thin rectangle around my title with a translucent background. With cropping and key frames I got it to intro and outro. All inspired by you!!! So thanks!!
@tammysypniewski18914 жыл бұрын
That sounds amazing. This is an old video though so I don't really remember it. Just to let you know you don't have to green screen anything anymore because of the blending modes. Just use lighten blending mode Lighten, this way you don't have to chromakey. Thank you so much for sharing and watching. Take care!

Hey Tammy, thanks for the vid. I'm currently building the courage to switch from Kinemaster on Android to Lumafusion on iPadOS - my edit workflow is 95% mobile. This was a useful tutorial and takes me another step towards taking that expensive plunge! I liked the flexibility of shape/text/keyframes & how shapes seem to snap nicely to the playback marker. Very hands on, very organic. I think Lumafusion have added blend modes now, so that white on black is perfect to overlay on moving images. 😊 Currently how I'd do this in Kinemaster is to build the entire title graphic and *unhide* it with a black shape over the top (angle and feather that shape for some interest). I once added a masked prism effect to the leading edge of the moving shape, which was cool too. I've had blend modes for over 6 months and I use it on every project. Thanks again
@tammysypniewski18915 жыл бұрын
Jump on board. You won’t regret it. It was the best 20 bucks I’ve ever spent. That’s what it cost 2 years back but still today at 30 it’s still amazing. Yes, the blend modes are incredible. Just think of what we can do with overlays!

Hi Tammy! I followed your tutorial, but I slightly went ahead of you, to see if I was thinking the right way. By building the vertical line at the right, I presumed that you would 'grow' the upper half of that line from the top line, and grow the lower half of the vertical line from the bottom line. So the opposite as the first vertical line. I found out that this was not possible. Then I played your tutorial further, and I saw that you probable encountered the same problem! I think not many people notice this. Second remark: when you made the very first line, you did not rotate it 90 degrees in the Title window. You did that later in the Frame&Fit window, so that the cropping labels were not matching. Isn't it better to rotate the line before you switch to the 'Frame and Fit' editor! Last but not least: I like your tutorials very much. Easy to follow, good sound and image.
@tammysypniewski18915 жыл бұрын
Hi Jan. To be honest it was so long ago I don’t even recall doing that particular one. I make a ton of these for small productions, not all exactly the same but generally the same. The second vertical line is drawn down in that motion because tutorials follows that same directional growth. I’d have to rewatch to follow what you’re saying about the other part. Sorry, I’ve probably made 50 videos since then, hard to remember every click. Thanks for your critiques, there’s always room to perfect!

Would it be simpler, once the first vertical line is in place, to create the horizontal lines and your name, then cover with a black box which can be either cropped or moved along the timeline to expose lines and name in sync? I’m not trying to one-up-you, just trying to understand if my method has pitfalls. It seems to eliminate some of the sync’ing requirements. Thanks!
