Skin Wound Healing Process

Skin wound healing is a complex process that occurs in response to injury or damage to the skin. The healing process involves a series of overlapping phases that work together to repair the injured tissue and restore its function. The phases of skin wound healing include hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling.

The first phase of skin wound healing is hemostasis, which involves the formation of a blood clot to stop bleeding. Platelets in the blood aggregate at the site of injury and release clotting factors that trigger the formation of a fibrin clot. This clot helps to seal the wound and prevent further blood loss.
The second phase of skin wound healing is inflammation, which involves the recruitment of immune cells to the site of injury. Immune cells, such as neutrophils and macrophages, release cytokines and growth factors that promote the recruitment of additional immune cells and stimulate the proliferation of new cells.

The third phase of skin wound healing is proliferation, which involves the formation of new tissue to replace the damaged tissue. Fibroblasts, which are cells that produce collagen, migrate to the site of injury and begin to synthesize new collagen to form a scar. Endothelial cells also begin to proliferate and form new blood vessels, which supply nutrients and oxygen to the healing tissue.

The final phase of skin wound healing is remodeling, which involves the maturation and organization of the scar tissue. The scar tissue undergoes a process of remodeling, in which the collagen fibers are reorganized and cross-linked to increase their strength and flexibility. The remodeling phase can take several months to complete, and the resulting scar may be less functional and less aesthetically pleasing than the original tissue.
Factors that can affect the skin wound healing process include age, nutrition, and underlying medical conditions. Older individuals may have a slower healing process due to decreased collagen production and decreased immune function. Poor nutrition, especially protein deficiency, can also impair the healing process. Underlying medical conditions, such as diabetes or autoimmune disorders, can also affect the healing process by impairing immune function and increasing the risk of infection.

Lol that's a complicated question, but the instructions are encoded in the DNA of all cells, and depending on the type of cell, certain segments of DNA are turned on or off. That's why neurons are not the same as red blood cells are not the same as white blood cells. After an injury, cells in the surrounding tissue release signals (cytokines and stuff) that attract WBCs and fibroblasts to the area, and these signals also instruct the new cells in the area to do what they usually do, which in the case of WBCs is to prevent invasion of pathogens and fibroblasts to proliferate and lay down collagen. If you want to talk scientifically, then millions of years of evolution have given cells the precise sequence of DNA to do their job. It's actually pretty amazing when you think about it!

@@kritikaraj5158 Oh yes. There is a big changes today I completely my 3rd month. Before my bum (skin) is not stretchy and very painful. Now the skin is stretchy and fully recovered. Waiting for another 3rd month to make sure my bum become stronger again. Just like a normal mine before. I just always applied herbal cream for my fissure. Sitz bath for 4 to 5 times (20 minutes) a day. Stool softener it can help, so that when you poop there is no pain. I know it's not easy you will thinking so much bad and regret but i will tell just keep be patience my friend I suffered a lot. But now i am very positive.

I had a semi complex laparoscopic appendectomy on April 8th. 2 weeks after the surgery, part of the clear bandage and dissolvable struture on the right side incisicison had gotten snagged on clothing and was yanked off by accident with a piece of skin as well. There is a small hole in which I dont see scabbing up. Is that normal? Same issue happened to a struture on the belly button today. I see two small gashes. I did go to my primary doctor last Friday who sent me some cream to place on the first one I mentioned and was told to clean with soda and water. Still dont see it scabbing up.

Hmmm.... I trough 2 months already still not healed 😓😓😓 I bring the injury work for more than one month's and two ten days before the injury cutted and take out all the dirty inside, today's the wound being checking and clean the implants for cover the wound and the clean blood like pipe water come out 😅😅😅 the nurse cannot stop it easily 😓😓😓 the pain she push the wound omg like whole body press the wound from bleeding 😱 but for me it's good news 😅😅 confirm 2 days later it's will covered by new tissue 😊😊😊

Is she smoking or drinking ? An also do not be alarmed… if it has fresh red blood leaking … its a sign your mums wound is trying to heal … if its still swell or has inflammation its getting infected.. if the swelling went down .. the wound is trying to heal but it will take time … she has to take alot of vitamin c .. no smoking , no drinking .. lots of water… and change dressing of the wound every 2 -3 days …

@@zealchainz347 if you notice the swelling going up … maybe you should change the type of dressings (the material)… i am currently experiencing a deep wound also that i take care at home .. at first it keep swelling and getting irritated… and i change my type of dressing and the swelling went down … i also keep my wound dry as possible .. when changing my dressing i sometimes rinse my wound with saline wash .. then dry it with a blow dryer .. then add dressing .. dont not be afraid … ive had my wound for about 2 months going on 3 and it is healing slowly but im am nursing it back to help with these steps i use … as the months go on i see new skin and my wound is getting smaller everyday … please make sure the wound is fully covered so that ntn touches it .. if it is any more swelling she can take an antibiotic called augumentin .. its good for skin wounds an deep wound infections….
